Bliss in a nest

September 9, 2015 by Katelyn

For Jody, comfort reigns supreme. We placed 30 blankets in a big pile in the play room after cleaning today and she was the first to make her way to it. The chimps will usually each take an armful when we do this and be on their way, but today Jody decided to take advantage of a “pre-made” nest. The only adjustment she made was pushing the pile into the sun and then she promptly rolled into, snuggled and stretched to her heart’s content. Just as it should be.

Exactly as it should be. Jody is after my heart. There’s nothing I love more than snoozing under as many blankets as I can.

I’m envious. She has better blankets than I do! Good for her. She can snuggle up and do her own thing because she is a lucky resident of the most amazing sanctuary filled with people who never stop thinking of ways to make the lives of all of the chimps happy and filled with dignity.

Your photos keep getting better and better. These images are so sweet. She’s a gal after my own heart. Decades in a lab cage must make this nest feel like Jody is floating on a cloud!!
