Today we put out a breakfast forage in the Greenhouse and a lunch forage on Young’s Hill.
Annie enjoyed the tangerines, while Burrito pretty much enjoyed every single morsel of food he could find at breakfast.
Missy was the first one to find the small sugar pumpkin (part of today’s lunch forage on Young’s Hill) on top of the wooden platform and quickly brought it to the Greenhouse.
Jody was quick to take over Missy’s find. She proceeded to bring the treat into the Playroom to enjoy.
Then it was Negra’s turn.
Jody and Annie were nearby in case Negra decided to share. Here Jody can be seen peering toward Negra.
Did poor Missy get any of it.
Missy did get some pieces of the pumpkin after all! Generally, food like this does make it around to most of the chimps.
Oh NO, you mean JODY stole Missy’s find, ah, no that makes me sad for Missy,
I wouldn’t be surprised if Burrito laid back and caught the Seahawks game.
SO… I have to ask, knowing the chimps can be known to fight over food, did everyone happily and willingly pass the yummy tender small sugar pumpkin on to the next chimp? How did that one little pumpkin get into so many different hands?!
Thanks for the questions Kathleen. Sometimes the chimpanzees do fight over food, but Missy willingly gave up the pumpkin to Jody. And then after Jody had some, Negra came and took it.
Burrito cracks me up! Love these posts – thank you!
Love all the photos and interactions. Hard to believe it’s already pumpkin time.
