Annie and Missy: Now and Then

May 25, 2014 by Elizabeth

While staff and volunteers were cleaning the greenhouse before breakfast this morning, Annie and Missy bided their time with a little wrestling.

And just because, here’s one of my favorite classic Annie and Missy play sessions from about five years ago.

Here’s to another five years of play faces and breathy laughter.

These two gals sure do love one another,
Their friendship and bond is remarkable,
I never think of Annie and not think of Missy, the other they are a team and a great team at that ,
AND I, very thrilled for them

I have a Question for Diana and JB ??
Prior to the big move from the lab,,
How was the relationship with Anni and Missy then ?
By the time you two arrived were the cages already aligned together to serve as one huge enclosure?
    and or
were they already good friends then ,
I noted upon their arrival video, their transfer cages were next to one another , they even traveled to CSNW next to one another,
What do YOU think prompted these two to hook up as BFF,,s
and become as close as they are, ?
Chimp friendships always fascinate and interest me,

We don’t really know about Annie and Missy’s relationship before we visited them. When we visited, the group had been together for about a year and a half in the small interconnected cages. They were clearly friends when we saw them the first time, and it’s possible they were housed together at Buckshire. Who knows about the magic of clicking with someone – it just happens between two people, or two chimps!

That Annie! Loved the way she would put the toy in her mouth and present it to Missy to play tug ‘o’ war, even when the piece came apart Annie moving what was left to the front of her mouth for Missy to grab. As if that wasn’t enough then she wanted Missy’s foot! LOL I love those girls! ?
