Play, play, play

March 11, 2014 by Debbie

Annie and Missy are quite well-known for their excited games of chase and wrestling throughout the chimp house. Negra, however, isn’t always the most likely play partner—and when she does play, she’s got her own speed (kinda slow). This time Negra was keeping up with the experts!

This video is a little longer than some of our others but I thought you wouldn’t want to miss a second of this fun play session. Thanks again to Patty W. for sponsoring today for us and for being Negra’s Pal!

I can watch them for hours.

    2 minutes is not enough.

Great video! I loved it when Annie reached out to Missy’s foot to drag her into the play session with Negra. I agree with Diane – I could have gone for 5 minutes. 🙂

There was a time when Annie would not join in on a play session. She would sit by herself and self groom and be very nervous. To see her actively join in and invite others into a play session is sign of her growing confidence.

I agree with Stephanie, Diane and Annie. The longer the videos, the more I smile and the happier I am at getting to see my seven favorite chimpanzees playing and laughing and enjoying life. So don’t ever apologize for putting up something longer than just a clip!

Play, play play and video, video, video! I agree, I could watch forever, It is such fun to watch the chimps and I learn so much everyday.

I couldn’t tell if Annie was looking back and forth to Missy for reassurance or an “Is it okay that I play with Negra” look? It was sweet the way Annie reached over to her BFF Missy and pulled her in to the play.

I think CSNW needs to get “Live Cams” set up all over the chimp house and Young’s Hill so you can stream all day long! Sort of like Cornell’s Bird Cams. Ha, ha, ha now that would be interesting and fun for us all! ; )

It’s hard to tell, but I think she just was trying to include Missy. But good catch on her normal permission-seeking behavior from Missy!

We’ve talked about having live cameras, but unfortunately out in the country we have very limited bandwidth on internet usage (and it’s pretty expensive as is but only increases if we go over our data limit). So until the cable or DSL companies bring out lines for unlimited internet data, it’s unfortunately not practical for us, which is a bummer because I would watch that on my days off! 🙂
