In the grass

May 2, 2012 by Jackie

Over the last 3 (almost 4!) years, we’ve had tons of blog posts about grass forages (in case you haven’t heard, the Cle Elum Seven love to eat grass!). Oddly enough, the first blog post about grass forages was on May 1, 2009 (almost exactly 3 years ago from today). What’s awesome is that we no longer have to set up a grass “forage” (unless we want to) because the chimps get to harvest it themselves on Young’s Hill. And that’s exactly what they did today. I wasn’t able to catch any photos of her, but even Negra went out a couple of times grabbing big handfuls of grass to take in the Greenhouse.

I know this isn’t what it seems, but Jody’s jaw-dropping expression looks as though she’s thinking, “WOW, look at all this grass!” 🙂

    A troll bank – 🙂

I’ve always thought Foxie should have larger “troll” babies that are sized more the way a really (chimp) baby would be.

Great choice! Glad to see it still has hair…! LOL

Funny you should mention that, Sara. Normally Foxie doesn’t seem to prefer the larger troll dolls and tends to gravitate towards the smaller ones, however she carried the troll bank around with her all day yesterday. But I highly recommend checking out this video from 2009 of Foxie with a giant troll doll– https://chimpsnw.org/2009/10/foxie-and-the-giant-troll/

They all look so pleased with being outside, feeling the grass under their feet,.. woo hoo , a new , being outdoors season lays ahead for the chimps on Youngs Hill, they too, know it… of course, Jody looks so lovely today as she enjoys herself while picking grass.
