Today is for you, Steph!

February 14, 2012 by Elizabeth

Today was sponsored in honor of chimp house volunteer Stephanie Perciful’s birthday by her husband Tim.  It is somewhat appropriate that Steph’s birthday falls on this day of love because she is one of the most generous and joyful people you could hope to meet.  (Proof: She arrived at the chimp house this morning for her volunteer shift with armfuls of gifts for the chimps and a big smile.)  Steph is one of a handful of volunteers who have trained to become caregivers and provide direct care to the chimpanzees, and they just adore her (especially Burrito).

Happy Birthday, Steph!

Happy Birthday to Stephanie your Volunteer, the chimps must love her,, baring treats.. Actually its such a treat for me to watch them all eat. I cant say one is funner to watch than the other, for when it comes to food, Chimps like all of us LOVE food. But for any chimp , who has survived , what these darlings have,FOOD is such a great pleasure, it gives them all such comfort.fun, and great enrichment Even though by now they most likely feel secure with their environment ..perhaps they may still feel there wont be enough or worse.
I love how Burrito, seems to leave his body when he eats, his beautiful brown eyes tend to look trance like ,from the sheer taste of the many bursts of flavours in his mouth. His savours every bite and he chews so cutely. With every swallow , he anticipates the next crunchy bite, chew and swallow and so on. Bless his heart, he is a darling,, I am so happy, they have been rescued and that they live in one, of the best run, sanctuaries, I know all the other sanctuaries are really good too, however, CSNW is the smallest. thus it CAN afford to give far MORE individual attention .. to them all. I love how all 7 chimps tend to gather at the fence, when a caregiver appears , especially with food.. Cle Elum Seven have it VERY, very, good, I think they all know it too. They all have developed such a great sense of self esteem , and greater confidence within themselves and as a group,, thank you CSNW.Thank you ,, CNSW without you all, no way would they be who they become in three short years. One can see the enormous changes, their fur alone, now shines and grows fuller and longer. as its was born to be. They all THRIVE now and look forward to every new day as it unfolds with enrichments, treats, trolls and toys, each individual has things they are known for that seperates them from the rest,
actually, I’m making my CHIMP shopping list ,as I view these videos. I’m going shopping to continue filling this big box I have, with stuff , enrichment items, gifts, for the chimps,My heart tends to really feel all the more, for my dear sweet Miss Jody,so,I’m looking for just the right big stuffed animal for her, by Mothers Day her honorary Birth-day, my gift box shall be there with bells on,literally , I hope they like bells and tambourines..I bet Jamie has played with jingles, and tambourines, nothing Jamie does surprises me.I like how in every video or so, Missy is always there, Missy really thinks Jamie is a demiGod, that’s so sweet, Its lovely to see each chimp totally enamoured with their best friend, again, they’ve all developed special relations with a buddy, all they did NOT have in the torture prison life of labs, they now have, the best food, care, enrichment, fresh air,sunshine,4 seasons to savour in the expanse outdoors of Youngs Hill, or from a nice big window and look outside in the shelter of the comfortably warm indoors of CSNW, and to do life at their leisure , and at their own pace. Life is GOOD ,,,at CSNW
