Mop Heads!

July 28, 2011 by Jackie

Supporter Tamela sponsored today in honor of the caregivers of CSNW! The following is what she wrote:

Here’s a big pant hoot salute to all the wonderful caregivers and volunteers who wash, scrub, and clean for the chimpanzees. Thank you for all the mundane, exhausting, never ending, backbreaking work you do.

To honor us hard-working, dirty caregivers, she named today “Mop Head Day”. So, 18 mop heads arrived at the sanctuary the other day with tons of little toys tied to them. And in case the mop heads weren’t exciting enough on their own (though I imagine they would have been), mixed nuts were hidden inside various toys. It’s been an interesting, and very comfortable day around here at CSNW.

Thanks so much, Tamela! Pant Hoots to YOU!

Tamela, What a great idea! It was so fun to watch the chimps getting the things off the mop heads. I bet you had a good time attaching them! And thanks for the pant hoots. I love cleaning and scrubbing for those magnificent 7 but it is nice to hear a pant hoot every now and then. 🙂

What a great idea! I have to say that was quite a comfortable looking nest that Jody made ;o)

Thank you Tamela for the recognition.

Some days it is very hard and I think “what the heck am I doing here, I’m retired and could be sitting on the deck” then I see Mr. B with a block of wood in his mouth trying not to laugh at a caregiver, Foxie with her beloved Troll’s, Jamie watching over her troop with a cowboy boot, Jody making a huge nest, Negra laying in the sun, Missy trying to find someone to play with, Annie playing with Missy, then all the hard work is forgotten and my heart is happy that I have helped give them a clean home.

Lovely tribute, Tamela. A lot of hard work the staff puts in, but how rewarding it must be to daily see what a wonderful life you are giving these wonderful seven. Thank you for making such a difference.
