Missy and Annie spent some time grooming on the platform outside this afternoon. It had just started to sprinkle, so Missy covered herself up with a blanket to stay dry.
When chimps find something good during grooming (usually a piece of dead skin), they will often inspect it. Here, Annie is holding out her lower lip to check something out.
These photos are really amazing! The lighting adds so much to them, and really brings out the “humanity” in Missy and Annie. Thank you!

I just love that Annie and Missy Duo.
What amazing pictures! I adore the last one of Annie with her chin on the blanket. I changed the page on my calendar at work today and a coworker looked up and said, “What a beautiful ape!” I just glanced up at Annie and agreed while smiling.
