Annie……… A.K.A Dear, sweet, sweet Annie. I also call her Anna Bell sometimes.

What I love about Annie is that she is the least dominate of the group. That she is always watching out to make sure she doesn’t get in anybody’s way. The way she gives “raspberries” when she finds a food she likes and wants more of it. I love how gentle Annie is when taking food that is being served to her. I love the way Annie can whistle with her thumbs (she puts her thumbs together and blows like we use to as kids with a blade of grass) it sounds like there’s a bird in the building. I love the way Annie will run up to you with a look of sheer joy to see you and then look around to make sure no one else is watching. I love the way she and Missy are “best friends” and seem to be always playing together. I love to watch Annie as her best friend plays with someone else, she will usually sit with her back to a wall and kind of groom her self or act like she is doing something else like “I don’t care that you are playing with someone else” as she watches every move Missy makes. I love that while doing the safety/security checks she is somewhere in the enclosure so that you can’t see her and you have to hunt and call her name and then when she is ready to revile herself she will peek around a corner and look at you with a look of “what do you require from me” or the look of “ha…. you really had to look for me”. I love how gentle Annie is with the others. I love that she can “steal” food away from Jamie (not often does she try this but she usually can get away with it). I love that Annie is doing “yoga poses” which tells me that she is secure with her environment and feels safe enough to relax in these positions. I love to see the huge nests she will build, I almost hate to tear them apart they look so good. I love the way Annie “slurps” her smoothie in the morning and always wants more. I love that Annie can laugh just as loud an any of the group if not the loudest and that she seems to love to laugh. I love that she doesn’t interact with her caregivers much but seems to prefer her fellow primates more. I love that Annie has the longest fingernails of any in the group. I love that Annie doesn’t try to poke you (with those nails) when serving her her meals. I love that Annie has never spit at me and has only spit on rare occasions.

Dear Sweet Sweet Annie, I love you

    Denice

Thank you, Denice for sharing your observations of Annie. I love hearing about their different personalities. I also love that she prefers her the company of her family rather than the caregivers. That’s what life is all about. Family.
