Lookin’ good, Jamie

September 21, 2009 by Jackie

Today, Jamie spent some time brushing her hair, brushing a troll doll’s hair, and checking herself out in a mirror. Seeing Jamie doing such ‘human-like’ things makes us wonder about her childhood (her records only describe her as a ‘circus chimp’). She definitely loves being a girl; that’s for sure!! The song, “I’m so pretty, Oh so pretty…” comes to mind.

Now we now how the trolls end up hairless, I hope she spit that wad of hair out.

Yes, I always wondered what happen to the trolls hair. Jamie sure is a girly girl. The girl has class!!!!

I knew Jamie’s favorite activity was scalping the trolls but I didn’t know she ate the hair!!! That girl is priceless. I loved seeing her comb her hair and the troll’s hair. Thanks Jackie!

Does she really eat the hair or spit it out later? YUCK!! Wayyyyyyy to much fiber, even for a chimp!!

Will never tire of watching their hands and how they use them. Pretty amazing stuff.

Yowza! Orange fuzzy treats! LOL – that’s an effective way to cut down on the primping time required before taking baby out in public.

Knowing how strong chimps are, I’m actually surprised that she had to work a bit at pulling the hair out … must be glued down with something strong!

Mystery solved…now we know how they get scalped!!! If the knots don’t come out, just get rid of it all. I seem to remember an ultimatum like that with my curly hair when I was a kid. I got stuck getting it all cut off too. I feel for the troll!!!

LOLOL!!! The scalping was priceless! I think Jamie does enjoy being a girl with her purses, tutus, and her scarves. Nothing wrong with feeling feminine, eh Jamie? And the song…It fits our Jamie perfectly! Thanks for a great video!

Thankfully, Jamie did not eat the hair. She just sucked on it, put it in her bottom lip and looked at it in the mirror. It’s similar to a behavior called ‘wadging’, seen in free living chimps, only Jamie did it with troll hair instead of leaves. 🙂

Fabulous! Thank goodness for modern technology such as video cameras and the internet! Wonderful to have a peek into our chimpanzees’ lives like this.

Actually, the first part of this video made me very sad, watching what humans have done to other animals like Jamie. But then when Jamie proceeded to scalp the troll…priceless!!

I had the same feelings as Amy M. Jamie is a CHIMP! She should be climbing trees, swinging from vines, mothering children, and foraging for food in Africa! I feel sorry for those chimps who have been robbed of a natural life.

However, I must say THANK YOU to all chimp sanctuaries who provide dignified retirement for abused chimps and provide such enrichment. All one needs to do is to look at the photos of the chimps arrival at CSNW and where they are today to know of the good work done in Cle Elum!

Remind me to not have Jamie style my hair.
