I’m not sure if others are aware of this but perhaps this might be a cause to write in about? Both to the Mariners and Copacino!
Here is the commercial – http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/sea/fan_forum/commercials_2009.jsp
KIRO Sports Director Bill Swarts…
GAR, Bone, and a Chimp… Yes a chimp is the star of the 100th Mariners television commercial to hit the airwaves since 1994.
Former Mariner stars Edgar Martinez and Jay Buhner are in an office having coffee and decide to find out who the REAL brains is behind the M’s popular TV commercials. To their surprise it’s “SPRINKLES” the chimp.
The real man behind the spots is Jim Copacino and his creative team, along with Kevin Martinez and the Mariners marketing department.
The new batch of commercials also has M’s ace pitcher Felix Hernandez sending flowers to an opposing batter for striking him out so many times.
Another commercial touts “AUSTRIAN” night at Safeco field to honor pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith. One big problem “MATE”, Ryan is Australian… not Austrian.
Copacino joined us on Seattle’s morning news ( 710 a.m. ESPN Seattle, and newstalk 97-3 KIRO f.m.) and said the latest commercials were taped in Arizona this winter. None of them will include Ken Griffey Junior because they finished recording the day before Griffey arrived. Besides, Junior will have plenty of attention without TV commercials.

Brenda,
Thanks for the information. I posted something on the Forum under Primate Patrol about the commercial as well. The Mariner’s can be contacted on their website. See the forum post….the more letters the better! Hope it will make a difference.
