Animal Legal Defense Fund Blog

March 20, 2009 by J.B.

Recently, the chimps received a visit from Joyce Tischler, founder and general counsel of the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), and Bruce Wagman, ALDF’s chief outside litigation counsel (and also a CSNW board member). Bruce and Joyce have written wonderful accounts of their first trip to meet the Cle Elum Seven, which you can read on their blog. You’ll also find never before seen videos of Jody and Foxie! We encourage everyone to check it out and support the great work that ALDF does every day to protect animals.

I just read Joyce and Bruce’s blogs and want to thank them for their insight into CSNW. Their blogs were beautifully written. It’s nice to read another’s viewpoint of CSNW, I read your blogs everyday and still learned new things from Joyce and Bruce.

The video of Foxie and Jody playing, laying down of all things, I think that’s a first, was wonderful. I’ve never seen Jody so happy and enjoying herself. Seeing Foxie interacting with Deborah was a joy to see, I’m envious.

The blog entries and videos were wonderful! There can be no doubt how touched they both were spending time with the Cle Elum 7. I envy Deborah. What I wouldn’t give for a kiss from Foxie!

I totally understand and accept the safety requirements when humans interact with chimps, but ooooh wouldn’t it be tempting to just lean in there and kiss Foxie back! LOL.

Thanks for sharing the links – very interesting reading and watching.

My days at CSNW are very special to me. It’s wonderful to read Joyce and Bruces’s blog and realize again just how lucky I am to have this opportunity on a regular basis. Hopefully their observations and insights will educate an ever widening audience and influence more to action on behalf of all chimps in dire situations. What a great experience they had!

The video of Foxie and Jody – priceless~!!!

Loved the blog entries, the new insights, and pictures. And I’m pretty sure I will never get tired of seeing the video of Foxie and Jody!

On a side note, as an attorney, I have been a longtime support of ALDF. Bruce and Joyce are two very intelligent and compassionate people, as is everyone associated with ALDF, and they work tirelessly figthing all sorts of animals injustice through the court system. In the legal world, CSNW couldn’t have better friends! Bravo!

I loved reading additional information on the gals (and guy) at Cle Elum. I didn’t realize Jamie was such a bully but I still gotta love her for her art and fashion sense. I’m incredibly interested in how they are learning to communicate – the way Jamie has of asking for something she wants. The end of Bruce’s article made me tear up. I am truly envious of the role of the special people in their lives – to get a kiss from someone as special as a formerly abused chimp is a great honor. I so hope I travel out to Cle Elum one day and spend some time volunteering with all of you.

wow, that was a wonderful read.. each time anyone writes something about their visit, we learn more and more.. thanks for sharing..
a few months ago I sent them a small donation, there are a bunch of good folks with great organizations that are helping animals, just wish I had more money to send to all of them!

What a wonderful blog. I loved the other view points and yes, like everyone else I was jealous of a Foxie kiss. 🙂 Great videos. It is good to have such good friends. Thank you Joyce and Bruce for your insight.
