This morning we put out a large bucket of (non-toxic) soapy water, thinking the chimps might want to do some cleaning. Jody had other ideas:
The chimps were also very interested in the eyeglasses (with plastic lenses) that we put out:
Missy, of course, wore her sunglasses on the back of her neck:
Annie seemed content to sit quietly and watch everyone else have fun:
Later, Jamie decided to pull the Christmas tree out of the tire….
….which uncovered something interesting and a little bit scary. Maybe a bug they hadn’t seen before?

JB I agree with Shelly. I am sitting in the San Jose airport waiting for my plane and since the WI-FI was free I checked in. Oh it was so good to see the fun in the sun! And no it wasn’t a vacation it was a required parent visit! Glad I am almost back home. Thanks for the wonderful pictures, JB.

Thank you so much for the great photos JB! It made a bad day so much better to see the chimps enjoying the sun, glasses, and suds. Their coats are shiny, they are happy, and all is well. I would love to know what has them so curious and focused though….LOL.

I expecially love these photos because they are all action shots. I love to see the chimpanzees so busy and interested in things. When they first came it seems to me there was more sitting around and watching. Now they seem to be involved and innovative.

I feel a song coming, something about wadging bubbles, stop me……
It’s really good to laugh!!!!

Great pictures, but the perfect one would have been of all those hineys sticking up in the air at the same time.

Thanks JB~one thing for sure, whatever it was in the tire, it was not as scarey as the plastic alligator..no one is screaming and running for their life~~LOL

I love the expression on Annie’s face – that’s a perfectly happy chimp. I’m as curious as they all were though about what’s in that tire…

Yes — it’s so great to see the Big Seven in action! I love how Missy wore her sunglasses on the back of her neck. So smart — that way the back of her neck won’t get sunburned. 🙂

My husband says he thinks the tire thing happened because one of the chimps looked into the tire and then another one wanted to know what they were looking at, and so on. But it was actually like that old joke, where someone looked up just to see how many people would stop and also look up, but there’s really nothing there. LOL.
I also love the pic of Annie, Sara. She does look so content.
Shelly Knapp says
I think it was a big ‘ole fat, hairy spider in the tire! 😉

The PIC of the group peering into the tire is the best PIC yet, maybe you can make a card or poster from that one.
It’s good to see them lead a dignified, content life.
