I wanted to start everyone’s morning by simply pointing out that today is the Cle Elum Seven’s six month anniversary in sanctuary. It’s hard to believe. We’ve seen so many changes in the chimpanzees in this half year. Six months is a short amount of time compared to the years they spent in biomedical research, but I think we’ve proven that it doesn’t take long to begin to heal. I look forward to writing about all of them at their one year, two year…. ten year anniversary.
Thank you all for being there for them.

Happy Anniversary!!! It is hard to believe it has been 6 months. In some ways it feels like they have been a part of my life forever. The changes they have made is remarkable. Everyone at Cle Elum are a part of my life and I feel so blessed to be a part of your lives, chimp people and human people. Thank you for sharing and caring so much. I am looking forward to a wonderful celebration on June 13th. JB, put me down for volunteering that day!

Today the CCCs celebrated with a wonderful enrichment party. We made almost as big a mess as the chimps and had as much fun making things as hopefully they will enjoying them. It was a perfect event, the snow was falling and we made an entire church smell of popcorn!!!
Soon, hopefully we will have lots of pictures of our messy fun!!!!
It is amazing how all of us primates come together and form communities and how wonderful it is for all of us.
Thanks to everyone for coming and to everyone there in spirit!!

Six months of healing has made huge difference in the chimps. Not just with their weight and healthier coats but in realizing that not all humans want to poke them with needles and hurt them in some way. The chimps know they are loved and the humans can be trusted and I think feeling that has made them blosom even more.
Love and kindness can work miracles.

How awesome is it that a whole group of people got together and filled a subaru with enrichment for these seven chimps exactly six months to the day of their arrival at the Sanctuary!! I know we’ve said it before – and that words can’t describe the depth of emotion…how enormously life-changing this has been for the chimps and for us. What an honor it is to be part of this “primate family”.
