Free living and captive chimpanzees seem to be “hard wired” to make nests. In captivity, it shows up with chimpanzees who have great lives (like those in true sanctuaries) and with chimpanzees who have not so great lives (like those in entertainment). Here’s a chance to see Missy concocting a masterful nest (twice!) made out of seven blankets and a stuffed monkey.

I wish you had live cams and I’m so glad you don’t because I would never get anything done for watching the seven wonders of the world. Missy is a very talented nest maker. She’s so precise and deliberate with her placement of the blankets and the stuffed monkey. I love how she stopped to check out her nest and do little adjustment tucks and the over the head flip was great. It looks nap worthy to me! Great soup bowl architecture! I give her a 10!!! Also, don’t forget that Burrito is the center of the universe. Did you get that message?

love how she touches everything & lifts some of them over her head and then wraps them around .. very thoughtful & deliberate in her choices, movements & arrangements .. arranging & wrapping things just so … her nest making skills are elaborate & impressive!
(love it when, like mentioned in an earlier post, how sometimes they stash other items in their nest, like a scrub brush I think it was and a shoe!)

Missy is an excellent nest constructor! I love how it had to be just so til she was satisfied. I know how she feels…my bed covers have to be just right before I can rest. We like it like we like it, huh Missy girl?

I just LOVE this video! This is just so sweet…..I can’t stop smiling when I watch it! The nest just wasn’t quite right the first time, so she had to move and start over! So precious……..doesn’t it make you just want to crawl in there with her and help her make sure it’s “just right”. I’m with Theresa and Missy, I very routinely make my own little “perfect nest” with my blankets, too.
This is wonderful. I liked how Missy moved, rebuilt the nest and then stepped back to see if it was to her satisfaction, and then worked it again. Yes, I wanted to crawl in with her to nap, too.

Thanks Jeani, There are about 950 others we are against so well see!!!! Yeah, one thing I didnt have years ago after sugery was a laptop, can you imagine, I did find a legitimate work at home business, I took one test last night, 100 questions, and now I have to answer customer calls from my computer, I will take that test tomorrow, that would be great if it turned into something great for addl income, extra money is always good, and I am always on teh computer anyway, might as well get paid for it. It was so bizzarre, I was having trouble submitting an answer from my computer and one of the employees on their internet help desk came right onto my laptop screen and took o ver the mouse, very bizzarre, I told my husband next they will be able to see you!
