Another Portrait of Annie

September 15, 2008 by J.B.

I’ve always loved the way chimpanzees sit. They each seem to have their own unique pose when they’re relaxed. They might cross their arms a certain way, or prop an elbow on their knees – some even clasp their toes together.

Annie looks very relaxed and content with the sun softly shining on her JB ~ certainly a tribute to you and the staff. How satisfying that must be 🙂

What a relaxed beautiful lady. I agree, these portraits are indeed a tribute to the care the C7 staff give, day in and day out.
Another wonderful warm fuzzy for me looking at the portraits.
Thank you so much for sharing.

What a beautiful lady she is!!! Do the females, like Jamie likes to wear ties, necklaces and sort, like Moja, she always liked to dress up in red, she had a fovorite dress, do the female chimps have this type of behavior???? And I know you arfe really tired of this one, but, does Burrito have a special lady in the house, they are all in his family but you know what I mean without having to spell it out, do you have to separate them or do you let nature take its course, that is saying it blogging correct right?

OK How cool is this!!! I just talked to Shelly K who told me Virgil at Save the Chimps is Annie’s son. Well, guess what I figured out? Angie, Foxie’s daughter, and Virgil are in the same family group to go to the Florida sanctuary. They will be together for the rest of their lives. I just wanted to cry with a mix of joy and tears. Joy that they are together as Foxie and Annie are, but tears because they aren’t with their moms. I am so glad they are in a sanctuary together.

what a great thoughtful & soulful photo of Annie

her face expression & her body language looks kinda like she’s about to say something like: “Y’know…”
possibly maybe she’d be pondering or saying something like:
“Y’know .. that J.B., Sarah, Diana & Keith..them there are some real special folk…” (I can picture her slightly bobbing her head up & down in aggree-ance (is that a word?) with her thought)
or “Y’know…that was such a tasty snack that we just had…”

whatcha thinkin’ about Annie? (the possibilities are endless!)
whatever it is, I hope your thoughts are confident & pleasant

if I can remember correctly – I think that Foxie likes to hang out with Burrito ..
(whether they do the hanky panky or not, I don’t know .. if these guys were Bonobos – they’d probably be doing the cha cha and the hanky panky often!)

Shelly K- I asked about Virgil being Annie’s son back on Aug. 25th, under the title- Foxie’s Daughter. No one ever answered the question. Was it confirmed that Virgil is indeed Annie’s son?

oh! yes! Brian Osborne asked the same question and Sarah was able to confirm!! 🙂 Isn’t that awewome?!?

It never ceased to amaze me how they may resemble their family members, yet they each have their own individual looks, they are not identical, (much like humans).
I found a web site that had some pix of Yerkes chimps, side by side, it was again amazing how different they all look. that alone should of made the researchers realize there was something different, special, unique about chimpanzees.
Thanks again for all the wonderful pix and info.

Wanda, it isn’t just chimps where you can tell differences. Working with other wildlife I have found I can tell the squirrels and raccoons apart, not only by their personalities but also their looks. And we are usually working with 40 of each kind at a time during baby season.
I think if everyone just looked close enough, and cared, about other species they would be able to see the differences. The world would definitely be a better place if we cared about the other species as much as we care about ourselves. OK, I’m preaching to the choir!! Have a good night everyone.

    I agree Wanda & Jeani ..

btw, hello Wanda .. I recognize your name from the V N P Gorillas website that I frequent .. I pray for all the brave & dedicated rangers, the gorillas, the people & families in that war-torn area (a lot of Africa really) .. blows my mind .. the situations there are very scary complex & complicated (it doesn’t have to be) .. wish that I could do more ..
