Cle Elum Seven home at last!

June 13, 2008 by Diana

All seven chimpanzees, now to be known as the Cle Elum Seven, are safe in their new sanctuary home! The transfer went incredibly smoothly and the chimpanzees are very calm and clearly happy to be here. Negra, Burrito, Missy, Annie, and Jamie have been taking turns looking out the window (Negra seems to dominate that space). They’ve been playing with each other and eating the fresh fruit that was donated this morning. You might see the chimpanzees on King 5 or Komo 4 tonight if you’re in Seattle or KAPP 35 in Yakima! And the story of their arrival will be showing up in various newspapers too. This photo, though, says it all.

Ahhhhhhhh….my heart is full seeing the beautiful photo of Negra. Maybe they could tell they were going to a safe home all along. How wonderful they will be able to make their first soft and fuzzy blanket nests for tonight’s sleep. 🙂

    Love and Light to everyone!

HALLELUJAH! We are so happy, we have tears in our eyes! Thinking of the fabulous Cle Elum Seven and of all of you with your great work. This has the makings of an Academy Award winning documentary.

Congratulations to all of you who have worked so hard for this, and welcome home to Negra, Annie, Missy, Jamie, Jody, Foxie, and Burrito! There are no words for that picture up there…

Congrats everyone and thank you for all your incredible hard work that made this day possible. I cried like a baby all morning-finally seeing those seven amazing faces I have only dreamed of-as the Cle Elum 7 left their cages for good! OK, I am going to cry some more now…blow Negra a kiss for me!

I’m speechless. And I’m so proud of everyone who has made this happen. What an amazing picture, and new beginning for our new friends.
    Welcome home!

    Hi everyone,

Wish we were all together to celebrate this momentous day. We are, I know, together in spirit. I’m with all of you ~ there simply are no words to describe the depth of this…..even our bittersweet tears can’t fully express the enormity of our emotions.

My heartfelt thanks to the entire Sanctuary team, including every volunteer, for all that’s been done to make this possible. I hope we all celebrate this day in honor of the Cle Elum Seven, and then stay tightly connected to help support the Sanctuary and find out how we can help save more chimpanzee’s.

Peace and blessings to you all!
    Shelly

WOW! You all did it! Very impressive, very sad, very exciting! I am so sad they (the chimps) had to do what they did and I thank you for taking care of these beautiful animals for the rest of their lives in a beautiful new home.

wow! what a great photo!! her body posture is reminiscent of Washoe. Congratulations to every primate there. I know you are probably exhausted but these chimps may spend all night looking out the window to the outside to make up for years of lost time.

    HUG/LOVE to all up there.
