Born 1989 in a laboratory. Birthday: September 25th (we celebrated her birthday on May 27th before we knew her real day of birth)

Mave arrived with Willy B and Honey B on August 18, 2019 after Wildlife Waystation in California announced it was closing and began searching for homes for all of their residents.

Mave was born at the Laboratory for Experimental Medicine and Surgery in Primates (LEMSIP). According to our records, her mother’s name was LuLu and her father is Conrad. Her mom was owned and kept for years by the Primate Foundation of Arizona. When LEMSIP closed in 1996, Mave went to Wildlife Waystation along with over 30 other chimpanzees. Her main companion for years, who she was paired with the laboratory’s “nursery” was a male chimpanzee named Goliath. He later died at Wildlife Waystation. She is also half-siblings with our very own Terry!

Mave is a chimpanzee who knows how to relax. She can be silly and playful, sometimes jumping straight up into the air as though she is on a spring, then quickly going back to lounging. She is best friends with Dora and enjoys long grooming sessions.

Become Mave’s Pal today! Mave currently has 8 Pals!
