Mixed Media Art

February 23, 2012 by Jackie

Jamie likes to draw with pens and occasionally with crayons, but she’s not much of an artist with paint. She used to paint a lot when she first arrived at the sanctuary (we have some of her earlier pieces for sale in our store), but lately her focus has been more on eating the paint than actually creating something with it. However, volunteer Seana gave her some finger paint yesterday and she created quite the masterpieces!

I see Burrito was only interested when he thought the paint was something to eat (that was Mr. B?)

Jamie, my creative gal, I would be honored to hang your art on my walls!

That was Jody that came over and took a look. She was licking the paint that was on the other objects Jamie had painted- mirrors, a stool, and the floor. 🙂

Did Seana have to show her how to finger paint, or did Jamie already know how ?

I believe Seana did do a little bit of painting before handing her the paper but I’m pretty sure Jamie already knew how to finger paint and that it was more for inspirational purposes.

That was wonderful and yes I liked how Jamie cleaned her hands off when she finished. Well done Jamie. Thanks Seana!

I have Jamie’s artwork “Play” beatifully matted and framed in my dining room. I get lots of compliments on it!…and it’s a great way to talk about the sanctuary.
