Ellen’s New Boots

April 18, 2026 by Krissy Brasfield

There are several chimpanzees at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest that love a cool pair of shoes, or a new pair of boots.  Some of the usual suspects include Terry, Lucky, and of course Jamie!

Recently, caregiver Ellen got some new work boots.  Guess who couldn’t wait to see them in action?

I’ve never heard Beezy’s grooming noises before!
Is her eye in trouble again?
Good to see Mave out. I hope they had some time out there together.

Good to see her comfortable outside on the grass these days!

I got the feeling that Honey B could play back-and-forth-chase all day! I bet your new boots had better traction after that boot grooming session.

Lovely seeing that new little tree blooming with pink flowers. Do any of the chimps enjoy eating the blossoms? Seems like it would be very tempting.

Love seeing beezus running outdoors! Has she gone to the top of the bray?

Honey B’s grooming is very frenetic! She just can’t sit still!
