We don’t get a ton of video of the chimpanzees actively nesting. I can’t decide which clips I like the most. Honey B and Rayne both crack me up. I love their playful confidence. And I was so pleased to watch from the security cameras George joining the morning mall walking!
I have an update on the Christmas deadline for that extra $40,000 toward our year-end fundraising. The deadline was extended by the Seattle donor, and, as I type this, we only need $494 to reach that $100,000 goal.
We’ve been receiving donations in the mail that I will also apply to the total, so pay close attention over the next few days!
We still have quite a ways to go to reach the full $200,000 goal by midnight on December 31, but I believe in the power of Jamie and her supporters.

Glad George has joined the mall walkers!
Do any of them snore?
surprisingly, we don’t hear much snoring at all, its a rare occurrence.
I would be very happy if I would not have to use youtube or sime other venue to view the blog.
You can view it without having to leave this page, June
Just hit the play button on the video at the top of the screen and you can watch the video right on this page.
Always interesting to see how everyone builds their nest. I guess you could say nests are as individual as each personality! I know you’ve mentioned in the past that the chimps don’t always sleep through the night, but it was so funny seeing Rayne and Co. playing and mall walking in the video! Poor Cy appeared to have been jostled out of sleep but he was so cool about it. I’m pleased to hear George has been accepted into the Mall Walking Club. Go George!
Good luck reaching your goal! With our beloved Jamie overseeing everything, I have faith you’ll do it!! Thank you to the matching donors.
Vintage Wolf Pack Wolves Queen King Blanket Blue Gray Polyester 102 x 90″ – New | eBay https://share.google/RNKngQ07mCYdGPNMS
Is this it? I know they stillbhave it, and that it’s popular among Lucky Rayne gang, as well
You’re the best, Linda, thanks for sending the link, but, not quite the original Willy Wolf blanket. As Katelyn pointed out to me, it was almost more of a rug. We decided someone may have custom-made the blanket. Regardless, it was wonderful that it somehow found its way to the sanctuary because it gave Willy B such comfort at a time when he needed it most.
I know that I’ve seen it before, it’s just that it’s been so long since I’ve seen the picture on it that I can only remember that it’s blue and white. but I have come across it before when I was looking for something else and I remember thinking “that’s the wolf blanket from the sanctuary!”
While the wolf blankets are popular with many of the chimpanzees, Willy B’s favorite blanket was (maybe still is) the leopard print one pictured in this blog post: https://chimpsnw.org/2020/08/heres-to-1-year-and-many-more-to-come/
It’s still hanging in there, which has to be a testament to how sturdy it is, because it’s been used and washed probably hundreds of times now!
Diana, is that leopard spotted sherpa fleece, or thinner, ultra soft (like the dark teal green one)?
It’s very thick and “two ply”. After doing some research, the type of blanket is called Korean Mink. The leopard print one is a great size. More of a throw. The popular wolf blankets are a little unwieldy when wet, but some of the chimps do seem to like the large size.
There is nothing better than a warm nest of blankets on a cold Northwest winter night.
yikes! Seeing Rayne nesting waynup high makes me seriously tense!
I just have to take this opportunity to share one of my favorite Honey B in her nest photos. For all of our newcomers to see. To me it is just absolutely precious.

Yes! That is such a beautiful photo of Honey B. Makes me think about how Willy B loved to nest in his big, thick, one of a kind Wolf blanket. He had it with him most of the time. I searched high and low to find another one but no such luck. Still keeping my eyes peeled for something similar. Back then, it seemed as if that particular blanket was Willy B’s security blanket. Willy has come so far, maybe he no longer needs that silly blanket.
when I went looking for this Honey B photo link, I also came across a good one of her wrapped in that big thick wolf blanket

Thx, Paulette. I remembered they were blue and white, but cabt quite get the picture off them. Almost, in the Burrito shots, not quite.
Honey B has such a frenetic nesting style, it always makes me giggle! I’m glad to see George has been accepted into the early morning mall walking group!
Oh, my word, from the video clips of these darlings we can see that nesting is taken very seriously and some of those nests look quite complex. I loved Rayne ready to nap after settling down into that nest. Thanks for sharing yet another aspect of sanctuary life at CSNW.
