Thank you, Tobin for recognizing the trifecta celebration in honor of the founder of Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, Keith La Chappelle.
Here is Tobin’s tribute for this significant day:
I am honored and pleased to celebrate this year’s Trifecta Day in honor of my pal Negra’s birthday (she is 17 years younger than the day se came to CSNW) and the birthday of Terry. Last year, I sponsored the Trifecta Day in honor of Karen Creason and Margaret Parkinson, who were at the Sanctuary on June 13, 2008 to greet their seven new friends with blankets and toys.
This year, I wish to honor Keith La Chappelle for his corporeal acts of charity and mercy in seeking to establish a sanctuary where Negra and her six companion chimpanzees could finally live. His name is one of many whose name is on the list of the Righteous humans who have taken action to seek humane treatment of our cousins in the Tree of Life. On behalf of her Majesty (and, a later arrival, Terry the Town Talker), we thank you.
And, I so wish our beloved Neggie and our cherished Bronx Cheer-leader very happy birthday celebrations and a new year of life abounding in enjoyable experiences.
Tobin, I always admire your way with words. Thank you so much for your sponsorship of the Trifecta! And of course, the very biggest thank you of all to Keith La Chappelle who brought all of these chimps and humans together to create HOPE LOVE and HOME for our beloved chimpmates.
Thank you, Paulette, for your support of the sanctuary as well. These are beautiful photographs. And, just to clarify, I kind of like the cattle, chimpanzees, et al, who have inhabited the CSNW over the past 17 years.
Tobin, you think of everything and everybody! How appropriate to celebrate the brains and the heart of the man behind the sanctuary, Keith La Chappelle. Here’s to the Trifecta and all of the accomplishments that have occurred throughout the years, going back to the day when sanctuary was nothing but a little seed of a thought. And look at it today.

May it rain sunshine down upon Cle Elum tomorrow. A friend’s granddaughter getting married here tomorrow will pay if it’s actually raining, but in spite of that, I’d welcome the rain anywhere except our favorite sanctuary. Let the Queen’s brunch be sunny!

What a beautiful toast, Tobin. Without Keith LaChappelle we would not have this bright spot to come to each day to share the happy tears, and occasionally sad ones, with the CSNW cast and crew – an added bonus to the complete change in life and opportunities that the Chimpanzee people, cows, barn kitty and all others have been able to experience. Cheers to each and every day, filled with options and growth. Thank you Keith.
