Burrito and Jamie’s Excellent Morning!

April 17, 2024 by Anna

First off! Thank you so much to the Upper Kittitas County Senior Center for having us last night for a presentation on all things sanctuary at the Centennial Center! We really enjoyed connecting with our local community! Also, way to go staff members Kelsi, Grace and Jenna for putting together a fantastic talk.

Make sure to watch the above video too! Today seemed like a particularly good morning for Burrito and Jamie. They were almost inseparable from breakfast till lunch.

It’s nice to see Jamie playing with Burriot so much of late.

    Loved that video, Anna!
Funny how they both sermed to understand that the rule was “ring around the barrel, Uno reverse allowed”!

Can’t believe Bubba is bold enough to play “got your toes!” with tmThe Boss while she’s on the serious business of parole! (I see she did turn around at the end)

I so Envy you Jamie…. if I was taught as a Child how to use my Pelvic Pockets I’d be so much better at Multitasking :unamused:and Oh Beautiful Neggie you can have my Salad …..just isn’t quite the same without croutons ,shredded cheese ,onions dressing……..etc:grin:

Thanks for the video, Anna. Sometimes caregivers refer to Jamie and Burrito as frenemies but these two sure seem to have become good pals over the years. Burrito is good for Jamie. Burrito is good for all of us!

Loved Jamie’s white arm band (Makes me wonder if this is a fashion statement or is she in protest of something?) and the way she kept readjusting her book in her pelvic pocket as she circled the drum.

To me, it seems like it’s increased since the 2 bites and the Big Fight. At first, they were just tolerating him more, but now it seems that he’s shadowing her, kearning to be an adult/leader. With their commonalities in their pasts, she’s somewhat ofca good role model for him (though Jamie is no Cy)

I loved the armband also and I never tire of the foot grabs.

What a great start to the day for Burrito and Jamie chowing on their lettuce and ready for the antics. I loved the simple game of chasing each other round and round; a simple game but so much fun. Thank you for sharing the photo of the talk at the upper Kittitas Country seniors centre and their involvement. I meant to ask you the name of your nearest town? I always think you are up in the mountains but where are you near? wherever it is I wish I was there as you have so much fun!

I don’t recall seeing lettuce for breakfast before,, it’s usually fruit and smoothies. Maybe the Queen is exacting a higher price for leaving her nest…or they had a huge shipment/donation of lettuce!

I think the closest towns are Cle Elum and Roslyn. Did the American 90s show Northern Exposure make it to Australia? They filmed the opening shots in Roslyn (moose, café)

Hi, Linda, many thanks for the “nearest town to the sanctuary” info. I did wonder as in 2013 and 2018 I visited Ellensburg and met the famous sign language chimps at Central Washington university sanctuary. I just fell in love with that town and the folk there. I recall seeing Roslyn and cle elum on the map but didn’t know how close our sanctuary was. I would love to visit C S N W but as I no longer drive it would be quite a challenge! Aso the sanctuary isn’t really open for visiting. We can always dream. Oh I believe Northern Exposure did make it Australia. I also recall the lovely town of Forks in Pacific North West and it’s magical “Twilight” cafe! Take care and travel safely.

Yes, Central Washington U is where their interns come from and JB now lectures there! Close!
They’re open a few days each year. I got a spot last year, but then had to cancel. ($25, donate more if you wish).

I enjoyed the lovely footage a lot, thank you! Jamie reminds me a bibliophile sumo-wrestler with her equipments, and Burrie melts everyone’s heart as usual. Congrats on your successful community talk.

I bet a comunity presentation ike the one pictured have a much greater impact on the future than the presenters might imagine! Look at the range of ages being influenced in that audience! There are future scientists and caregivers and directors ……and protectors …..in that audience. Who knows what important and better futures you’ve inspired for many…humans and non humans alike! Many thanks!
