Happy winter solstice wishes from Dylan!

December 21, 2023 by Katelyn

Our heartfelt thanks to Dylan Most for this wonderful annual sponsorship of today in celebration of the winter solstice here in the northern hemisphere (or summer if you’re in the southern hemisphere)!

We appreciate you, Dylan! The first day of winter and our tilting toward the slow return of more light-filled days. We wish you, and everyone, all the magic and wonder and comfort this season of light and dark holds. Thank you for always holding the chimpanzees in your heart.

Foxie:

Though from many, many winters past, this photo of Jamie and Annie perfecting the shoveling that the humans had just completed always makes me smile:

Terry:

Our beloved Jody was the queen of foraging in all seasons and winter was for giant ice treats:

Truth be told, we are so far experiencing a relatively mild winter (sshhh…) and have had minimal snow and nary an icicle. But January and February tend to be doozies, so we’ll see what happens. Here are Missy and Jamie enjoying icicle enrichment from a past winter:

Happy Winter Solstice to everyone! Thank you, Dylan, for thinking of the sanctuary on this day. And thank you Katelyn for all these perfect photos of wintertimes from the past. I remember Jamie and Annie shoveling their pathway! I love the two photos of “Adventurous Annie” and the three girls all curled up together, warm and snug and safe. So good seeing Ice Farmer Jo. No one can forage like Jody. What pleasure she found in it all.

The pictures were all wonnderful, but Jamie and Annie shoveling the snow is heart melting. Also Annie in the snow alone. Thank you for making us give an extra smile today.

Pictures are all heart-warming. I love snow, so the one of the colors reflecting off the field was particularly wonderful to my mind. And I loved the head shot of “Adventurous Annie.”

Thank you, Dylan. The Adventurous Annie photo reminds me that all creatures are in awe of the beauty of the seasons. But, I’m in tune with Negra. Give me a warm blanket and a noce winter’s nap. Hapoy Solstice to all.

Happy Winter solstice to you all over there and thankyou, Dylan. We don’t get snow in Sydney( most un Christmas like) so these gorgeous photos were a delight. I swear that sweet Annie was dancing in that second photo of her in the snow, like a celebration of life. Best wishes to you all and take care.

I like to put on my little red dress and a white sweater and walk the beach on Christmas. My tradition (Jupiter FL). But we’ve had high winds for over a week now! So not sure it’s gonna happen this year
