This video has everything… holding hands, reading a magazine, playfully spitting, play faces, and drinking Gatorade. The chimps sure do love a Gatorade pool!
Lately, Honey B has been doing this playful spitting (seen in the video). We don’t know what she is thinking when she does it, but I am inclined to assume she’s being silly since she is simultaneously breathy panting. Nonetheless, she is so lucky that her group members are patient with her and are understanding of her unique sense of humor!

Friends having fun and it looked like Cy managed to keep his magazine dry.
Paulette says
Hmmm. Try as I might I couldn’t catch the spitting. But what a great crowd! I’m so impressed by how relaxed and friendly and even affectionate they were. It makes me just so happy they are there in sanctuary with each other. Also makes me miss being young and hanging out with school friends like that. Wonderful video Jenna. Thank you!

And wow! I’m so impressed with Honey B’s social skills! She has come so far. I am truly so proud of her!

I was expecting Cy to be the spitter
Gaynell says
Paulette, I would describe it as more of a dribble than a full-on spit.
Tobin says
Ah, happy hour on Friday afternoon down at the watering hole. One speculates what other liquid might have been added to the libation on tap? After a few drinks, it appears that Rayne and Willy shed some of their erstwhile social inhibitions. They aren’t the first primates to flirt in a bar.
Eli says
Honey B is such a character. It’s so nice to see her in a big group, interacting with everyone and being playful.
I also love how Cy keeps a hold on his magazine throughout. He really is a bookworm.
And of course Rayne and Willy B holding hands and playing! It’s just the absolute cutest thing.

Lucky and Honey B aren’t the only new friendships. Please share more details on this budding friendship between Rayne and Willy B! The hand holding, arm swinging, sweet finger touches, and that play face of Willy B’s, followed up by eyebrow bites and nuzzling….oh Willy B, I am bursting for you! Jenna, is this typical for these two?!
Can’t stop watching this video and each individual. The Gatorade Pool is the cool place to be.

This is THE BEST! I saw it earlier, somewhere on the internet. So glad to see this fabulous group getting along so well for more of the world to see!

This is so heartwarming to watch and even participate in from the airwaves/cosmos/blogland. Thanks so much for letting us participate from afar in these precious moments. Five minutes later there might be screaming but at least in these moments and others like them peace and playfulness reign supreme (and the Gatorade, of course).

6 of the 9, and so playful!
Jenna was it close to dinnertime?
Isabelle says
Oh, what a joyous moment of Gatorage… (sic!)
There seemed like a lot of communication was going on around that pool, that was silent, and only they know what was said! It was lovely to watch, and I did, many times! Gorgeous Cy with his magazine, like a professor with his grey beard, relaxing at his local waterhole on a Friday afternoon after a busy week (probably to be found in that little village we were told about a while back)! Then colleagues, friends and neighbors showing up to join him! Even a little playful flirting was going on :revolving_hearts::monkey_face: like at any other public waterhole! Also, someone maybe had a little to much, trying to prank her friends, although they didn’t look as amused as she did!
Thanks! :two_hearts:

We, the human primates, think we know so much about personal communication, but we can only guess about all of this chimp interaction. Cy, stopping by for a cold one at the pool happy hour after a long week, while cererbrally impressing his friends with his books. I sure hope someone has approached the Gatorade folks about supplying the sanctuary. Otherwise, they are getting free marketing brand name recognition.

Great idea! I just sent the video to PepsiCo!
