Today is for Lacy!

March 21, 2020 by Katelyn

Today’s day of sanctuary for the chimpanzees was sponsored by Shaun Mayo for Lacy Rambo!

“For the person who has such an amazing heart for the gang… and also who loves a good Jamie story now and then.”

Shaun, in addition to the difference you help make for the chimpanzees as one of our interns, we so appreciate your kind heart in choosing to celebrate Lacy with a day of sanctuary!

Lacy, all of us here hope you have the best day and thanks for loving the chimps from afar!

Hi Lacy…Shaun sounds like such a wonderful friend to have…Wherever you are, I hope you’ll find a sense of pleasure in something over this weekend & coming days…Bless you both…

Seeing Jamie so peacefully asleep with her head on one of her beloved boots like it’s a “pillow,”just makes me feel like I’m smiling from the inside out….Such a heartwarming moment in time…

    I’m sending warm thoughts to everyone…Be well…

Lacy, I hope that within a few weeks, you’ll be able to go out and celebrate your birthday in style! Until then, you have friends who love you for your chimp love, and that in itself makes for a very happy birthday!

Thanks Shaun for being an intern at my favorite place full of my favorite people and chimp people! Lacy, I’m with you, is there anything better than a Jamie story?! Shaun and Lacy, if you feel inspired please share your favorite story with us. Can’t think of better way to create a world wide Smile Fest. : )

They definitely both have a love for them. My nickname for Shaun and Lacy will be Tarzan and Jane !

When talking about Jamie, you have different types of stories. Lacy and I like to say we have Jamie stories and Jamie “stories”. ” ” tend to let you know that a cheeky story is on the horizon. Those are the times when you make sure to be on your toes and, I believe, she knows this too.

One story that comes to mind is when I was helping clean the play room and Jamie came and sat down next to the door to check on everyone’s progress. She looked at me for a moment, like normal… but this one was different in that when I gave her a head nod, she gave one back. Then she stuck her fingers through and gave a slight chimp wave which was new for us.

Our last, before the madness unfolded, was Jamie “asking” us for a round of chase! It was one of the early pretty days the valley had seen and, though chilly, the sun more than made up for it. So, what else do you do?? You go for a lap or two with Jamie playing pace setter!

All in all, I would not trade a “story” for a story any day. It’s what makes Jamie, Jamie and what makes her so memorable… And so darn cute with a boot.
