Playing the Days Away

March 13, 2020 by J.B.

Despite the increased workload due to our self-imposed quarantine restrictions, the sanctuary has been a kind of oasis lately. If you have to ride out a pandemic, you could do worse than to be stuck with these goofballs.

Thanks for the daily post. I look forward to your message each day. It will probably be needed more in the coming days as our daily lives narrow. Thanks again.

You are so right J.B. Right now the world needs to follow the chimps, best mood lifter there is. Goofballs galore! I found myself reaching out to Honey B’s outstretched hand. And I saw you had snow today! Hope Burrito got a wicked case of freeze brain. : )

Thanks for sharing a much-needed dose of that oasis with us, J.B. takes away the pain of an hour-long wait in the supermarket checkout line, followed by a (fruitless) search for rolls of paper…a pity I didn’t share that panic mentality with people a few days earlier, when I had the chance!
So funny that Willie B amd Honey have that obsession with cameras, and Ms.Mavelous doesn’t!
So strange to see you post on Friday, not Saturday- so I get to say, “have a good weekend, J.B.”!

First thing each morning I read your post. Had to laugh this morning with the
reference to the “goofballs”. I can only imagine how much fun this can be for
all of the staff at the Sanctuary. I always have a smile on my face after seeing
the pictures of the chimps and reading the blogs. Keep up the good work.

Although impossible it must be hard not to want to hug these girls and boys!

Hi again, JB…..how would that potential 40-day mandatory quarantine affect operations at the sanctuary?

Hi Linda – Can you elaborate? I’m not aware of anything like that, though I saw that travel restrictions to and from hot spots like Seattle were being considered.

        Hi,
Yeah, I saw something (think it was news feed in my phone) that said WA state gov was considering a mandatory quarantine…just wondered how people would go about getting a waiver…because you’d have to, right? Will try to find source for yoy

        Hi again,
I can’t send the link through the phone, but it was from the Seattle Times on March 8th, so perhaps it’s old news for you that Inslee was contemplating a shut down in the style of Spain or Italy. Limiting traffic on the roads, curfews, etcetera. I was wondering how you guys would get food and in out for the chimps in that situation

Hi Linda – We’re taking things one day at a time. We don’t have the ability to store much food, so we’re keeping in touch with various produce suppliers and trying to stock up on chow. If travel in and around the Seattle area becomes a problem, we have access to other cities in WA.
