Willy B’s cabbage

December 8, 2019 by Anna

The chimpanzees don’t follow the same food etiquette rules as most of us. Chewing extremely loudly with your mouth wide open is no big deal if you’re a chimp and somehow it’s still pretty endearing! We posted this video on Instagram yesterday and due to popular demand, decided it needed to be shared on multiple platforms.

Oh, the noise he makes as he inhales it! 🙂
    Have a good Sunday, Anna!

Thank you for the video of Willy B. eating his cabbage – it brought me joy today!

Joy! That is a perfect word for how it made me feel.

He makes cabbage sound yummy. AND he wiggled his ears while eating. Endearing is a great word!
    Thank you for sharing.

I love it when you share these bits of their days. I like to sit with my grandchildren and watch these clips, and as they become better at reading I like to listen to them reading the blog to me.

Yay an eating video. I’ve been waiting for one. They’re the best. Willie B is adorable enjoying his cabbage. I especially love the care he takes in arranging everything just right between his teeth, before commencing the crunching.

It’s such a shame that you can’t just hug each and every one of them!!

What a way to eat!! Yummm..yummm..yummm..
I’m sorta’ jealous of the Chimp’s dinning etiquette or the lack of! It’s so fun to watch! Thanks Willie B for enjoying your cabbage with us!

I dare anyone out there to pretend that they do not simply go swoony, joyously-over-the-moon-crazy for your videos of the chimps eating — crunching, chomping, grunting, squeaking all the way through their meal. Is there anything better?

I was crushing on Willy B before but this video may be the exact moment I fell for him. Hook. Line. And sinker! He chomps away but he does have some manners, he eats small bites, properly chewing every one. LOVE!

While I can’t say that ‘cabbage’ brings forth a moan – there are certainly food that do, for me too Willy B. You are in good company. 🙂

Wow that is some chewing going on there Willy B. Does Willy have dimples or what are the indentations on each side of his nose area.

Dunno for sure, but I think just high cheekbones and a wider mouth. But I think calling them dimples works!

Hi Debbie – I don’t know if there is a name for this indentation, but it is simply the result of the normal musculoskeletal architecture of the chimpanzee face. None of us are experts on anatomy, but it seems to be due largely to broader and more prominent cheekbones and jawbones relative to those of humans.

“Endearing” is RIGHT… I can’t seem to stop grinning…So much so that my cheeks are starting to hurt…HaHa…Seeing & hearing such loud sounds of contentment while the chimp people eat, makes me so happy…I never tire of it…& that wild hair of Willy B is too darn cute…

Lol, his back hair is actually attractive!

Every time I see one of the chimps ravishing a food they love, I can’t help but think how central food is to a good life and how awful it must have been to eat only pellets. Chomp away Willy B!
