New Boots

March 1, 2019 by J.B.

A recent visitor to the sanctuary wore a pair of boots that really caught Jamie’s eye, so you can imagine how excited we all were when those very boots were included in a care package that arrived earlier this week. As is Jamie’s preference, we started by modeling them and she was instantly enamored. Did she remember them? I would bet money on it. She seems to have a photographic memory when it comes to boots.

JB — This may be a stupid question but is there any difference between a day nest and a night nest other than the time of day it was created? 🙂

No stupid at all! Day nests are more likely to be made on the ground and are often less elaborate than night nests.

What a wonderful video! I love that Jamie got those boots, and that she is putting them to such good use. That was nice of the visitor to send them to her. Jamie is so smart!

Wow. Wow. And Wow! How cool of Jamie’s visitor to give her the boots. A gal would only do that for Jamie. Loved Anna’s stomping presentation of the boots, rousting Jamie from her snow box desk. But the shredding of her blankets to make ties is just really remarkable. I couldn’t be happier knowing Jamie is surrounded by people who love, nurture, respect and appreciate her.

Is that a custom tool bench made for Jamie at the end of the video? Looks awesome. Can’t stop smiling over all of this. Makes me think of the new chimpanzees awaiting their turn to live a life in sanctuary. If you build it they will come…..and they will blossom and thrive!

The woman who sent her boots (they looked as if they were brand new) must have been thrilled to see this video and how much joy those boots brought to Jamie. I just loved loved loved this video–running to the part of the room where the boots could be handed to her, ripping the blanket to get the ribbon-like part of it, tying it to the box, making a KNOT, Jamie’s intelligence never ceases to amaze me. How sad her life was with so much brain power, being stuck in a steel cage with no toys, blankets, windows, physical and mental activity.
