Mother’s Day Party

May 9, 2010 by Sarah

Here are a bunch of pictures from today’s celebration. As I type the chimps are enjoying bouquets of fresh fruits and veggies, chocolate cupcakes, pita pockets stuffed with peanut butter, and gorgeous paper flowers sprinkled with raisins!

What beautiful arrangements! I can just hear the food squeaks. Happy Birthday, sweet Jody. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers at CSNW! Thanks for the great pictures!

What a great picture of Sarah, Julie and Jeani, it’s great to see the volunteers. Those bouquets were a wonderful idea, I can copy creative ideas but I can’t think of something from scratch, good job everyone.

Oh my goodness!! We had such fun creating those goodies!! I found a vegan recipe for chocolate cupcakes. We left out the sugar and salt but added extra apple cider vinegar and some cinnamon for Burrito. We baked them in the chimp house so there were lots of inquisitive visits to the kitchen window to see what smelled so good. There’s just something special about baking for your “children” and I appreciate that Mother’s day gift…..that and spending time with my daughter there. Jeani was very creative with the bouquets but it took four hands to get them done. Oh, you should have heard the pant hoots and food squeaks!! The Seven were quite excited. A wonder Mother’s day in Cle Elum.

Well done to Sarah, Julie, and Jeani for making such beautiful treats for 7 beautiful beings! It makes me feel good to see so many people with open hearts make these chimps’ lives so much more enriched. All the best to you!

Of course we love the party pics, but thank you for posting the pics of the caregivers. It’s so nice to put names and faces together. Looks like another great party for 7 VERY LUCKY chimps!!

Since I couldn’t spend Mother’s Day with my daughter and Granddaughter how great it was to blog on to your site and see that wonderful picture of them with Jeanie. Julie had told me about the cupcakes they planned on baking there and as soon as she got back “over the mountains” last night she called to tell me of their wonderful day.
I hope someday you will be able to allow visitors to see your sanctuary and meet your family.

You all outdid yourselves… everything looked wonderful – and it is easy to see what a great day the chimps had!

Could not have been a better Mothers’ Day and birthday for Jody. I am sure there were seven happy tummys sleeping last night.

It was a great Mother’s Day all around. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day than to be with the chimps. Yes there were lots of pant hoots and food grunts. It was so rewarding to see the joy of the chimps. I loved seeing them come by the window to check in, making sure we were getting it right. Toward the end Burrito was hanging on the cage by the kitchen swinging and nodding. You could almost hear him saying” Come on guys!! It”s time already!” And then then loud hoots just before they went in to the front rooms for dinner, followed by the quiet grunts and chomping. I think my favorite moment was Foxie and Jamie in room 3 eating beside each other. Jamie had food surrounding her in a semi circle and Foxie was just eating a piece at a time. Foxie slowly reached over in front of Jamie and took a pita sandwich and Jamie let her! They are really developing a relationship, I think. Anyway, the day was absolutely the best: a sunny day, fun caregivers, the CE7, and fun volunteers working together!
