We’re celebrating all day long today – we started with a brunch forage in the outdoor area, and volunteers Sarah and Julie Harding and Jeani Goodrich are hard at work making sugar free chocolate cupcakes and bouquets of greens and fruit for dinner. Here’s a picture of Jody enjoying the morning forage to hold you over till we get video and more photos together later!

Happy Birthday Jody! I think Jody has the most beautiful almond-shaped eyes. I’ve noticed in the videos that when she looks at the camera, it’s like she’s looking through your soul.
Happy Mother’s Day to chimp and human alike. My Mom’s 77 years old and my best friend and makes me laugh every day, I’m blessed. My parent’s couldn’t have kids so after seven years of marriage they adopted me (1957) and my sister, Cindy, in 1958. Then my sisters Cathy in 1960, Christy in 1961 and Celisa in 1973, all from Korea. My Mom told us how painful it was when everyone else had children and she couldn’t. Well, my Mom and Dad certainly made up for it.
My point is I can’t even imagine the pain our mother chimpanzees suffered when they had their babies taken from them. I’m glad Foxie has her troll dolls because we can all tell they bring her much joy. The CE7 mothers may not have their children with them but the staff and volunteers treat them as queens everyday. Of course, the one king Mr. B is well loved.

What you all do for the chimpanzees every day and the days you make special for them are very much appreciated. Happy Birthday, Jody.
