Sometimes choosing the best photos is hard

April 12, 2015 by Keri

In any given day I may take one hundred or more pictures of the chimpanzees and secretly hope that at least half do not turn out. It’s not that I do not want one hundred pictures of the chimps, it’s just that it is so much harder to go through them and select the ones to use for the blog. There can be twenty of the same chimp doing almost the same exact thing, just at a slightly different angle or at varying degrees of zoom. Today was one of those days when so many of the pictures of Burrito turned out that it made choosing the best photos seem almost impossible. So, I figured I would post the photos of him and let all of you decide which ones are the best (don’t worry, I narrowed the number down from the thirty original photos).

Burrito was being so patient, seemingly turning on the charm while he was being photographed.

I can see why you have trouble picking out the best ones – because they’re all wonderful. Each one for its’ own reasons – I can’t select just one! Burrito has expressive eyes and doesn’t seem to mind the camera. Thanks for posting these:)

I agree with the others, the camera sure loves him. But if I had to pick one, it would be the last. Seeing any one these special 7 at rest, peacefully, shows how at home they are now. It’s so great to see!

Great question Diane. Yes, we do show the chimps their pictures on the camera if they want to see them. Sometimes they seem interested and other times not so much.

I also love all these photos, but if I could pick two, I’d choose the first one (just for the interested, engaged look on Burrito’s face and his irresistible smile, and the last one, for such a great job of capturing all of Burrito in the frame and having it be such an interesting picture as well. So good to have so many choices! Thank you and thank Burrito for the lovely “modeling.”
