Delicate Jamie

April 26, 2012 by Debbie

Sometimes Jamie can be quite destructive, with her great displays that show her domination, and her investigations of enrichment. So in contrast, I really love how delicate she looks with this small cherry tomato in these pictures from the other day. (I also really love the amazingly vibrant green grass in the background!)

I love how she’s holding it in the first photo…perhaps she’s wondering, “shall I squish it or eat it?” She looks please with her decision in that last photo.

Lovely colors in these photos all around!

She is enjoying the freedom to be able to sit quietly and enjoy looking at the tomato before she eats.
No rush. I’ll just sit here and when I’m ready…….

I just saw Chimpanzee yesterday — such a story & view of them in the wild! I am dazzled. It makes me love the world the 7 finally got to have all the more — and while not the African jungle, they sure get to express themselves fully. My deepest thanks to every devoted soul who loves and treasures these incredible chimp-folk!! I love all of you guys for how you love them!!

Here is a Jamie question: does it appear to anyone else that she seems to have better fine motor control in her hands than most chimps? Remember the video of her trying to crochet or sew? I will never forget that. What do those closest to her have to say?

I do think Jamie has better fine motor control than some of the other chimps, and this might be due to the fact that in her early years she was raised with humans. It’s possible that since she used human tools growing up, she is better at using them (or things like them) as an adult. All the chimps can use tools, but Jamie certainly does have a knack for more meticulous tool use.
