New troll

April 5, 2012 by J.B.

Foxie has hundreds of troll dolls, but she still loves getting new ones.

When she gets a new one, she usually cuddles it or holds it to her belly.

Sometimes she will take the troll for a stroll, putting it on her back the way a chimp mother might carry her child (that’s Jody on the left).

When she’s really excited about a new troll, she will play games with it, like balancing it on the rung of a ladder until it falls onto her belly.

This troll got to tour most of Young’s Hill today.

    It’s very touching how she treats the doll it like a surrogate child. It must be something similar to the relationship some kids have with a doll/ stuffed animal, where they treat it as if it were alive while knowing it isn’t.
    Then of course, we have the new/old toy cycle, where the new toy is doted over, and the old is paid less attention.

    I have to admit I was actually worried about the self esteem of my old toys once I got new ones. Sometimes I would even sleep with both new and old to ease the transition. Hehe. 😀

    MAGNIFICANT PHOTOS! Foxie just wins my Heart over & over! She so adores her Troll Dolls! And sweetly she plays with them, holds them & treats them as her Kids!

    I know they used to say you can never be too thin or too rich but, really, you can never have too many troll dolls. 🙂

    Thank you for these delightful photos, JB. She gets the best out of each one, doesn’t she? Foxie is a charmer.

    It makes me wonder if she still thinks about her offspring which were taken away. Does she long to be a mother? She would have been so loving…

    I so love troll mama Foxie! Wonderful photos for this Good Friday. Thank you all for everything you do to allow the 7 to live the rest of their lives in peace.

    ditto, ditto, ditto on all of the previous comments. It is so odd though that she treats her trolls like real life babies…except of course when she rips their heads off and such..but not so with a doll in the likeness of a chimp or human…any theories about that?
    It is delightful, however to see all the photos of troll doll Foxie mama, interacting with her “babies”, strolling all around the Hill! :}

      We really don’t know why she is so attracted to troll dolls. She does have a few “human” dolls – Dora the Explorer, for example. But she certainly prefers trolls. I think that the common theme is juvenile traits, and trolls have some of the most exaggerated juvenile traits of them all. But why she would prefer them over a juvenile chimp doll is anyone’s guess.

    Someone mentioned something that made me wonder… has Foxie ever been given a doll that looked like a baby chimp? I wonder what she would do with it, if it would hold a higher place or lower place to her troll dolls. Just wondering… I love seeing her with her ‘babies’ 🙂

      Yes, she has, and the baby chimp doll lasted about 2 minutes before Foxie tore her apart. We don’t know why she reacts this way to stuffed animals.

    Well, who wants an old stuffed animal anyway when you can have dozens of brightly, colored, troll dolls to play with?? They have so much more personality and really the coolest hair ever! :}
