Today is one of the biggest holidays on the CSNW calendar, the Trifecta Jubilee! Today we celebrate Negra and Terry’s birthdays, as well as the arrival anniversary of the Cle Elum 7. Today’s video follows Negra as she celebrates her 53rd birthday.
With Negra’s mobility challenges over the past few months, we weren’t sure if we would get to celebrate another birthday with her. We have enjoyed every minute we got to spend celebrating with her today, and tried to fill her day with all of her favorite things. Today’s menu included coconuts, lychee, figs, romaine lettuce, sugar snap peas, Hawaiian rolls, cornbread, pancake hearts with whipped peanut butter, mini banana cream pies, sparkling cider, banana leaves, and homegrown grape vines from Caregivers Diana and JB’s house, as well as roses from Caregiver Sabrina’s garden. Dinner is coming up, and will include baked sweet potatoes and coconut whipped cream.
The most rewarding part of the day was seeing Negra get to spend another few hours with her whole group, something she hasn’t been able to do since her mobility first declined in March. She gets daily visits from several friends at a time, but has not lived in the whole group due to the risk of fighting and Negra either not being able to get away, or accidentally getting hurt while trying to get away. We decided early on in navigating her mobility challenges that the risks of a fall in the playroom were too great to give her access, and the playroom is an important space for the group as a whole. To reduce the risk of having her with the whole group today, we closed the group out of the playroom and then let Negra out into the greenhouse with them, and everyone was able to enjoy the party together. Afterwards, they relaxed and groomed until it was time to go back inside.
I think it’s safe to say that Negra enjoyed her day. Turn the volume up to hear many happy food squeaks!
Oh my goodness, so many sweets! She must have been in heaven! I see the cornbread and peanut butter pancakes went over a treat!
And Foxie went past a half coconut for those Hawaiian rolls! Good to see dear, sweet Annie with a coconut, too. (Btw, I feel the need to share that when I type “dear” on my phone, “sweet Annie” pops up as an option :upside_down:).
It is hard to see Neggie struggling with that left leg, but she seems to be taking it all in stride. So many attendees at the party! I feel like some people came in on their day off?
Thank you for making and sharing such a long video of what was a memorable moment! You know how much we lover her and love to hear her enjoying her birthday, and we appreciate the effort you put into sharing it with us. I’m sure we’ll see what happened on the other side of the house tomorrow.

Ah, dear, sweet Negra. Her body really has failed her, hasn’t it. Her heart is still so huge, and I enjoyed watching her enjoy the food and the company. Happy Birthday!
Happy Happy Birthday to Negra and Terry and Happy Celebration to Cle Elum 7. Its always so wonderful to see the chimps so happy and enjoying themselves. I was so happy to see Negra out and and out and enjoying herself. We have to appreciate everyday we have with her. It looks like she cant use her legs at all, but she is getting around which is good. thank you so much for all you do for them. they are all so special.
It breaks my heart to see Neggie struggling to get around, but it cheers me to see her enjoying herself so much. Everybody was over the moon and it’s great to see them enjoying the celebration. Happy Trifecta Jubilee to everyone and happy birthday, Neggie!!!

Yes, sweet Negra is struggling but she certainly connected with her pals and there was no stopping her enjoying the largesse before her. Such a treat to spend time with Negra and know she was with all her family for the celebration. What a sweet soul she has always been.

I agree with all of the previous comments, especially that words alone cannot adequately express how much we love our dear Neggie. I am glad to see (and hear) her with all her friends; her embrace with Burrito was a treasure to witness.
Thank you for sharing this video of our beloved Negra so that, from our respective distances, we could share the privilege of being in her presence. I think that Neggie liked her birthday treats. I look forward to seeing Terry’s party in next blog posting.

Happy, joyous, delightful, food filled birthday to our precious Negra!! If I didn’t know any better, I would say Negra is still aging in reverse. Look at the joy on her face! She hasn’t lost her appetite or love of her favorite foods. Just look at the food she’s packing away and stashing to the side for later! And look at that incredible twinkle, spark, joy, that is still in her eyes—her eyes are bright bold and beautiful. Yes, she is still young at heart. And no party with Negra could be complete without her offering a kiss or two to her dear friends and caregivers. It is wonderful to see Negra experiencing such pleasure at her 53rd birthday party.
I am impressed by the way Negra isn’t allowing her disability stop her. Yes, it slows her down but she’s still enjoying life. All this makes her 53rd birthday the best of all! Thank you, all of you for being there to celebrate Negra on this momentous occasion. You have given her this big beautiful incredible life. Thank you!!! Here’s to another year of hope, love, home.
