A break from the routine

June 4, 2026 by Anna 7 Comments

Today we hit a bit of a standstill with several particularly stubborn chimpanzees boycotting their usual shifting for cleaning routines. For caregivers, this can be a bit draining, as all we want to do is be able to provide a clean and enriched fresh space for the chimps to enjoy. Of course, some of the chimps have other ideas and there’s not much we can do about it at the moment. Today we cleaned all we could clean and then I recharged my battery by finding some lovely peaceful moments in several of the greenhouses.

Well, if these two beautiful ladies can’t recharge your burnt-out battery, I don’t know what could. Wonderful phots, thanks Anna. Haven’t seen much of Rayne lately so her images were a treat. And I’m really liking Neggie’s bed head lately. So sweet to see Missy taking good care of her.

I hope when you returned to work the chimps were more cooperative and shifted so you could get down to business.

So, you may not have been able to get all of your cleaning done to (Jamie’s) exacting standards, but you managed to capture some good photographs of Neggie, Missy, and Raynie. By that measure, your day was very productive.

At least they didn’t make you postpone the cleaning on a hot summer day, when the heat is bad later…
speaks well for the greenhouses. They love them so much, they won’t leave!

Raynee is the most photogenic chimp I’ve ever seen.
