The Importance of Friends

May 9, 2026 by Ellen Brady-McGaughey 8 Comments

Due to Negra’s reduced mobility, she has not been living within her group as a whole, but gets visits from friends each day. In today’s blog video, see Negra enjoy some quality time with her good friend, Burrito.

Aw, he got her to sit up and belly laugh. The magic of Bubba.
But Ellen, you DO like to test the patience of the Party Police! She will NOT be ignored!

So Neggie’s not moving her toes much?

Such a heartwarming video. Burrito seemed to sense this was his special time with Neggie and he was so attentive and loving. It even appeared at the beginning of the video that Burrito knew Neggies legs were weakening and it was almost like he was doing therapy on them. So very sweet.

      I agree.
Dr. Burrito most defenitely prescibed physiotherapy; keep moving those legs girl!
And a good couple of bites on the head will do wonders.

What a beautiful friendship benefiting both of them, pushing and pulling hands and feet. Overseen by an onlooker making certain you are filming it all, Ellen. How sweet.

Ah, the healing power of friendship and it’s easy to see that Burrito, with plenty of smarts, knows exactly when to be gentle and tender with Negra. He can be a goofy guy but also a big softy and I think Negra knows that. Bless you all ?:sparkling_heart:?

At first I was thinking that maybe today Negra wasn’t quite up to a play session with her buddy and then she propped herself and went for it! She even hung in through the head bites and pummeling! I thought their game of tug (using their teeth!!) with the little stuffed toy to be the sweetest interaction of all time. And poor Jamie, she so wanted your attention and at one point she wanted to join in and play with Burrito and Neggie. Loved Jamie’s expression.

It does beggar the question what medical interventions can be performed for our beloved Negra? When a human primate can no ambulate with her lower extremities, that doesn’t render her less of a human prrson, or negate her inherent dignity. Likewise, Neggie continues to show forth her personality, and it appears that Bubba managed to get her lower lip to hang low in a smile.

Let us treasure the residents of the CSNW and the time which all of us have been given.

It warms my heart to see Neggie playing rough with Burrito. Tht guy really is the best medicine! Jamie was pretty permissive with filming, too. Only a few camera pokes!
