George, His New Best Friend, and the Third Wheel

February 2, 2026 by J.B.

George engaged in a lot of play during the one-on-one intros, especially with the other boys. These were positive interactions, but not a guarantee that he would fit in once part of the larger group. While all signs so far have pointed towards George’s integration being a success, we have been waiting for the day that he would feel comfortable enough to engage in some roughhousing in the larger group setting. This would be an indication that he felt comfortable and secure with his new family. And today, just two weeks after building up the full group, we got to see George play with his new best friend—and an awkward third wheel.

I have to say, we’re excited for George, but we might be even more excited for Gordo. He’s enjoying this new friendship and really deserves a buddy like George.

Yay! I’m so happy for little George, he’s got the family he didn’t know he needed.
And Yay for Gordo & Terry too. :revolving_hearts::revolving_hearts:

Looks like George is Mr. Popular! Not only did George initiate play with Gordo, their massive play session took place without the comfort of Cy being close by. Terry so very much wants to be a part of the George fun! Sort of reminds me of the shenanigans between Mave, Dora, and Honey B back in the day.

Once again, you read my mind, Kathleen! Cy nowhere to be found means George is really settling in.

I just want to thank you all at CSNW for everything you do. For George, for all of our fellow creatures in your care.

When the video posted in the afternoon on yt, I said the same thing–so happy for Gordito!
I hope once they’re better friends, they’ll let Terry play, too. He can be a goober, but he means well.
I see Lucky’s blanket car was tooling around the lower level of the parking garage.

That is so heartwarming and Im so happy for George. He seems like such a good natured dude and just happy to be among others of his kind. I got the impression Terry was being a little agressive and George didnt want to engage in that way so he repeatedly turned his back towards him. I’m probably wrong because I dont know these chimps like many here. I dont know Gordo or Terry’s behavior patterns and since they have all been mistreated to varrying degrees they are more unpredictable and difficult to read. I really need to go back and read the blog posts to learn more.

How wonderful to see George setteling in so smoothly, slapping his way into Gordo’s heart.
And Terry maybe just has to wait for his turn to be besties with the new guy.
    Engouraging!
And is George grooming others already? It did not look like that to me.

Yes, I can well imagine that George’s overture towards Gordo certainly got your attention! I loved the fact that feisty George reached out to Gordo and followed him determined to engage with him even though Gordo walked away. Then it seemed they were hand slapping and getting to know each other. A budding friendship and Terry’s presence didn’t faze him as it seemed to add to his fun!. After all those desolate years of being on his own, George has finally found a loving forever home and judging by his curiosity and tenacity he’s finding warm friendships. Thank you everyone for helping magnificent George find his mojo.
