Many thanks to long-time friend of the sanctuary, Meg Lunnum, for sharing her special day with Claudia and the chimpanzees through a day of sanctuary! Meg shares:
“It’s time for my annual birthday donation for the chimpanzees and bovines and humans that make Chimpanzee Sanctuary NW so delightful! I appreciate your dedication to each creature that inhabits the sanctuary. Thank you! IÂ would also like to include my sister-in-law, Claudia Taylor. She has been a supporter of the sanctuary. We chat a lot about the happenings.”
Happy Birthday, Meg! You’ve been part of our sanctuary family from the beginning and we truly appreciate you and all you’ve helped make possible in the chimps’ and cows’ lives. We love that you choose to share your birthday with us each year and thank you for including Claudia this year as well! We hope your year ahead is wondrous in all the best ways.
I still often think about all the decades the chimpanzees lived unknown to most people, to now be a part of so many conversations, friends, families, homes, and hearts. So loved for the remarkable individuals they are.

Happiest birthday wishes being vibed your way, Meg. Thank you for supporting the sanctuary and being a friend for so many years.
Katelyn, your last paragraph, expressed in your beautifully eloquent and personal way, sums up everything we all feel. Look at those faces! Foxie and Jody. Your sponsorship posts are worthy of being framed. 🙂
So gracious, as you always are with us, Kathleen, thank you. <3
Meg, I hope this day brings amazing things to someone whonis very obviously cool people!
Many more happy birtdays to you, Meg!:bouquet::gift::champagne_glass::monkey_face:
Happy B’day! Another wonderful supporter of this awesome community of chimps and their caregivers.
Negra looks like a kid in the candy store with those handful of nuts and Jamie looks intimidating! Ready to lay down the law. All Annie and Missy are lacking is a couple of hammers in their hands and it would look like they just finished building that structure. What carpenters! Sweet Foxie and Jody with love and care in their eyes and the impish Burrito ready for more mischief. The personalites are so interesting to watch.
Cheers all…
jody & foxy. just beautiful
Jody & Foxie. My heart strings felt a tug.
Happy Bjrthday, Meg. Thanks to both you and Claudia for supporting CSNW.
Thank you, Meg, for choosing to spend your birthday with the cowgals and the chimppeople. Their presence, however remote, makes for a great birthday celebration. Happy B-day from Annie and Meredith and Raynie.
I, never, see photos, or, videos, of, Negra being outside. So, I will, once, again, inquire if she, ever, does venture onto the Bray?
Hi Diane, yes, Negra is frequently outside for short bursts, particularly when it’s sunny and warmer weather (though in her group’s habitat, Young’s Hill, as the Bray is for Honey B and George’s groups). We were even lucky to catch photographic evidence just a few days ago! : https://chimpsnw.org/2026/01/snapshots-of-a-winter-day/ Thanks for caring about her and asking!
Not only was she out a few days ago, we saw the words “Negra was the first one outside”! Words dear to our hearts!
But if an old girl of almost 52 says it’s too cold and she wants to eat her breakfast back in bed, she’s allowed to do that, too. It’s the joy of sanctuary.
