Snow Snacks in the Rain

January 12, 2026 by J.B.

It takes a lot to keep these Pacific Northwest chimps from enjoying the outdoors. Come with us on a short walk around the 4.5 acres of habitat and let’s see what the chimps are up to this afternoon!

P.S. For all you avid blog followers: Notice anything different?

    Let’s see…patrolling clockwise again ?
Missy beats everyone to the top ?
Is it that they’re out in the rain? (Rayne in the rain)
Or is it that GORDITO is back with the gang?!
That means Ms Secret Sauce is over with Honey B and Mave; Mave will be so happy!
Can’t believe they patrolled with rain AND thunder!

Those first 3 question marks are supposed to be chack marks. How dare I use phone emojis?!

Yes, Linda, that is soooo annoying! I sometime press the hearts button and then a ?? mark pops up on my blog comment. Drat it.

Is the difference Gordo and George together.
They are all living their best life? Whether its summer or winter, the sanctuary grounds and surrounding area, hills trees etc are breathtakingly beautiful.

Would love to see a race between Burrito and George. Those two little balls of energy need to become outdoor friends and maybe Missy would join the race too.

Missy already smoked him on the downhill, then stood at the bottom talking smack, clapping like “Cmon George, put your batteries in” (about 7-10 days ago).

It always makes me happy to see Jamie patrolling Youngs Hill, no matter the weather, and with Burrito for backup. I had a feeling I’d be seeing Gordo once you got to the Bray. But when I didn’t see his handsome face in the crowd I almost gave up looking for him. Then the camera panned from Rayne to Terry then Lucky and then…Gordo!! Yay! How long has Gordo been in the new group? Will he be sleeping over? It’s just wonderful. And this means Dora is happily ensconced with Mave and Honey B and DJ Willy B.

You must be so excited…..and relieved!

Gordo was added to George’s group yesterday morning and Dora was added to Mave’s group. Gordo will stay in the group as long as things are going well, and soon Dora will be added to complete the process (but she will have transfer priviledges).

Lucky Dora! I hope Gordo fits right in with little fuss. It is all so exciting.

Another fascinating day in the lives of our beloved chimps. I always love and appreciate the constant updates and keeping us all up to speed of ” who goes where” regarding the chimp groups such as Gordo and Dora’s transfer to a different group; no small undertaking when you consider all their disparate backgrounds and personalities. Keeping peace amongs the groups must be a herculean task. Thanks for sharing and I wouldn’t mind some of that Pacific North West snow out this way in Sydney to cool us down!!
