Mora: Girl Time & Good Vibes

January 20, 2026 by Sabrina

It’s Tuesday, and that means lots of meetings for the humans of CSNW so I will leave a few pictures of Mave and Dora during their private girl time here for you all to enjoy!

Dora, feeling playful

Many of you will note the raw spot on her face and this is just a pick mark, which are common among chimpanzees in captivity and can happen from boredom or more often from over grooming either of themselves or from others (like Mave) grooming them.

Mave, feeling ultra relaxed during her girl time with Dora

Didn’t we all as a kid pick a scab off our knee. That’s what that red spot looks like to me.
the blog entry had a musical theme it would be Cindy Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

I am so glad that Mora is back together again, even if the “M” part of that equation is a tad overscrupulous in her grooming technique. (Prediction: Dora will have an fult, swift and uneventful recovery).

Dora is so cute, even when she’s doing a serious dental assessment on herself. Mave! Would someone please peel her a grape.

Dora is such a cutie! She loves looking at her teeth!
Thank you for the wonderful photos, as always. After finding out that Fauna Foundation’s matriarch, Sue Ellen, passed away, these photos gave me a smile. My heart breaks for Binky, Tatu, and Loulis and all of the caregivers and staff at Fauna.

Like you, I was deeply saddened to receive the email about Sue Ellen. She had come so far in her physical healing over the past years. Holding everyone at Fauna in my heart.
