Jamieween 2025!

October 31, 2025 by Jenna

October 31st is Jamieween!

The spookiest day of the year. A day for costumes, sweet treats, baked goods, skeletons, cool weather, pumpkins, and to celebrate chimpanzee, Jamie, on her birthday!

Jamie turns 48 years old today! Some days I can’t believe she is 48 because Jamie just seems timeless.

Jamie is bossy, assertive, dominant, smart, silly, and confident. Jamieween is one of our biggest days of the year, because Jamie truly runs this place. The least we can do is celebrate her in a big way each and every year!

Today, caregivers Kelsi and Katelyn planned a jam-packed party for Jamie’s birthday. There were ice treats galore (shaped like eyeballs and brains), special blood orange blended drinks, pasta with sauce, baked apples, baked potatoes, carved pumpkins, and pomegranates…. I’m also probably forgetting something else, but it’s getting late and I got to get home before the goblins come out.

I know blog readers are going to ask… which member of Jamie’s group stole the pumpkin? The answer is anticlimactic…. no one. The pumpkin is still out on Young’s Hill as I type this. Although I did see that someone messed with it a little, as the pumpkin looks like it’s been through something. Maybe tomorrow someone will take the pumpkin!

Enjoy today’s 11 minute video! You may see a costume or two and some SPOOKY footage.

Happy Halloween! Happy Jamieween!

You all put on the best parties! And thank you for identifying everyone- I, for one, am still not able to name everyone on sight.

Every year you surpass yourselves! What a wonderful celebration and we can tell by the happy food grunts and squeaks that they all enjoyed their party. Annie and Missy seemed to do very well this year, Bubba of course got his fair share and the other group were just as lucky. I loved the boot cut pumpkins in honour of Jamie. My only sadness every year is that the Great Pumpkin Thief is no longer with us to stagger down the hill with her booty and get to enjoy it inside. I’m sure she was with them in spirit wishing her boss a Happy Birthday.

Ph, whole apples! The Boss’s favorite! And they were BAKED!
I hope Tiny wasn’t too slow on the draw to get something! Even Neggie managed to snag some things, but Neggie is usually content with whatever, bless.
Those California boys are sure rowdy at mealtimes! I see why Dora and Gordito seek higher ground.
I just finished my chickpea veggie stew (that has coconut milk in it) and couldn’t help thinking that the chimps would love it! Time for some pineapple before bed!

I hope the Boss liked her presents!

Happy birthday to the amazing sometimes spooky, sometimes sweet, Jamie! The caregivers outdid themselves as usual! What a party! Just hope Jamie decides not to play any tricks on anyone today!

It looked like a wonderful day for a Halloween forage. The decorations were great as were the staff’s costumes. Happy Birthday to Jamie.

Happy 48th Birthday to the Indomitable, lovable Jamie! This year’s celebration did not disappoint. My favorite moment was watching Queen Negra shuffling out to join in on the foraging fun and seeing our Birthday Girl so excited to see her. It’s as if Jamie was thanking Neggie for joining her party and saying “Let’s get this party started! The Queen is here!”. I don’t believe that I have ever seen Jamie that excited over someone’s arrival. I loved that little moment.

Missy! Even with dropping her spaghetti off her plate, she scored the most collected goodies. What a crack up. There is no doubt about it, everyone from all the groups had a fantastic time! Lucky little George had an entire pumpkin all to himself! I can’t wait to hear who snatched up Youngs Hill Great Pumpkin. I believe they deliberately left it out on the hill for Jody to enjoy. A sweet way to pay their respects to their beloved friend. Who will get it in the morning?! Did Cy’s group pick apart their pumpkin or did someone secretly snatch it up after Gordo knocked it over? And I thought Willy B might grab his groups pumpkin but there were too many tasty treats about. Who won the Great Pumpkin in Willy’s group? So much intrigue! 🙂

Thank you everyone for making Jamieween the annual bash that is. It’s hard to say who has the most fun! And thank you, Jenna, for this feature length video. Had to watch it twice. Happy Birthday Jamie!!! We love you so.

I thoroughly enjoyed this party, as did the chimpanzees. I could not keep from smiling through the whole video. Special days are made much more special by the staff at CSNW. Thank you for loving in person who I can only love from afar.
    Happy Birthday, dear Jamie!!!

Thank you CSNW for the awesome video!
