CSNW Founder, Keith, along with friends and family, spent the weekend improving the Bray habitat. We were able to turn a pile of leftover materials into a new tower, and we repurposed a shaky bridge that had to be taken down during our fence renovations. We also planted a few more trees with the hope that they’ll survive the chimps’ curiosity to one day provide some more shade at the bottom of the hill (thanks for the plum tree, Patti!). The chimps took an instant interest in all of it—even Willy B braved the grass to check it out. Stay tuned for George’s reaction to the new climbing structures.
Many thanks to the whole crew for helping to build an even better Bray habitat.

Go Willy B! Not bad for a guy that would never leave the boardwalk, even when being tempted with luscious grapes. I’d say that was a pretty courageous adventure on his behalf. And I think Maeve waited till morning just to make sure Willy B survived the night, proving the new structure must be safe.
Not surprised at all to see Rayne go straight to the most challenging aspect of the structure and walk across that shaky bridge as if she had done it before. Rayne is simply amazing. Is there anything that she’s been afraid of or has she ever hesitated before diving in and exploring? Cy did a great job too, considering he did have his publication with him. Obviously, he had to go slowly so he wouldn’t damage any pages. I will confess I got a good giggle, correction… I got a good laugh over the way he scooted off the final slats of the shaky bridge. Cy was moving as fast as he could, not bad for a big guy!
I could hug everyone who invested so much time and creativity to build the structure and plant the trees. So exciting to see the chimps interacting with the structure immediately. Can’t begin to imagine how exciting that is for them even if they’re a little intimidated by parts of it. Keith, you’re a marvel, thank you thank you!
Keith, you’ve given them so much already–thank you for your continuing dedication to our favorite chimpy people on the whole pkanet!
Thanks to all of the volunteers and staff for building and testing (yeah, we knew you would ) the shaky bridge.
Patti, a plum tree is an amazing addition, but if it’s on the bray, I predict a lot of chonky lazy chimps in the sun next summer!
A big THANK YOU!!! to all the builders! :hugging:
Go Raynieeee! I adore these smart, strong and fearless female chimps like Rayne here or Alice in Chester Zoo.
MAVE!!!!
I don’t think I have ever seen her outside, so happy she does that now.
Loved Cy on the bride, and I totally understand his hesitation…those bridges are sooo scary to cross!
And go go go Rayne, nothing scares her, my goodness.
