A Day of Play (Contest)

August 31, 2025 by Diana

I’d count this contest as a success for everyone! Watch the video above and let me know if you agree.

Towards the end of the day, there were a few names not checked off, but J.B. swooped in and got Mave to play, Chad had a  play session with Honey B, and Jamie decided she would indulge me. I did show Annie my toes (she really likes bare feet). She acknowledged them, but perhaps wasn’t impressed enough to take my lead towards playing. There’s always tomorrow!

Bonus photos of Jamie with her forage haul that she brought into the greenhouse and put in a box.

is it really Mr Intellectual,I just want to sit and read my book Cy who got the most check marks. it looks like George had a lot of fun and took it on the chin, ha ha. but I have to give the award for Creative Choreography to the non-chimp primate, Ellen.

That was so much fun to watch all the different ways they interact with the caregivers

Fun challenge!! Prior to seeing the video, I placed my bet on Burrito to win. But Cy won by a long shot! Didn’t see that coming! George and his play moves with the wooden spoon were very similar to Burrito. No one had more fun than Ellen. (Did I see a Michael Jackson moonwalk across the bridge?!) Ellen, that was amazing. I think you blew Lucky’s mind. Jamie. She did enjoy playing with her long straw that we know will be put to better use later. I’m guessing she saved it in her special stash box.

Ellen Lucky is telling you that song is merengue, not salsa! Creative hook, though!
I’m not surprised Burrito was high on the list, it was a given. And George being on his own is more easily engaged. Also not surprised that it was Annie/Missy who was low, since they often pass on playing with the humans.
Jamie would like to remind you that she’s not your average chimp: her play requires more complexity, like the Gator. Or power tools. Something more sophisticated, or something that requires you running in fear! 🙂

What fun, not sure who enjoyed it more, the chimps or the humans.

    Fun idea for all involved!
Watching George and then following it with the clip of Jamie really surprised me how old Jamie is looking. You dont realise until a young man moves in and you have a 27 year age gap for comparison

Jamie must have been in a great mood! I feel like it’s rare to see her being silly with caregivers. Usually she’s inviting (demanding) them for serious business, like patrol walks or boot inspections!

    What a delightful post, thanks!
