George’s Reading Corner

July 2, 2025 by Kelsi 14 Comments

As we’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, George seems to really enjoy flipping through books and magazines! Yesterday, we gave him a magazine about baby animals, a few books about apes, and even lent him one of Jamie’s books about tattoos. George absolutely loved the baby animal magazine and was thrilled to see even more books waiting for him.

Each time he received a new book, he carried it into Front Room 7 to settle in and flip through the pages. He often used his feet to hold the book open, making it easier for him to turn the pages. It was a joy to watch his curiosity and enthusiasm as he explored each new read!

Getting to know George has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Each new discovery helps us learn a bit more about what he enjoys and what sparks his interest. We’re excited to continue exploring with him and uncovering even more about his likes and dislikes as we go along!

Between the reading and the gum chewing, is there any possibility he’s related to Cy and Lucky?

Handsome George is settling in a treat and it’s heartwarming to see how relaxed he is. No such enrichments at his previous abode! You have worked wonders with him and he is so trusting of you.I loved the way George kept glancing up as he gently turned the pages, enjoying his bounty.Another insight to this amazing boy.?

Well, yay! The Great Apes has been well-received! Folks, does your local library have a shop where they sell books that they no longer use or books that were donated? Check it out! Mine even has a “free” cart most days! This dollar or two spent has obviously brought some joy! (except for a couple of pages torn out–either Cy didn’t like the snarling gorilla, or Dora picked it up). If it’s been popular, I can check for other copies online (though I think I did before)

How wonderful if Cy and George become book buddies. They’ll just have to be careful that a certsin. chimp doesn’t eat the pages. And, please guys, no fighting over Stanley Tucci.

So sweet. Not sure what activity George enjoys most. Is it flipping through the books looking at the photos or chewing away on his gum?! Must feel like a system overload with all these new and exciting experiences everyday. Lucky George.

George is just delightful in everything he does. It will be great when he’s able to share his life with other chimps and experience, family, friendship, love, laughter, and more joy.

I’m really curious and looking forward to George meeting Cy. I know JB said he wasn’t going to be sharing all of the meet and greets, but I reeeeaally want to see the meet and greet of these two immensely interesting personalities

Paulette, maybe we’ll get to see some of a “howdy” meetup between these two bookworms. i’m confident CSNW will show what they can when they can.
