My Tattoo Tribute

May 10, 2025 by Jenna 23 Comments

I recently got a tattoo portrait done of Burrito and I thought the blog readers would love to see it!

Inspo picture of Burrito that I sent to my tattoo artist, Jenny Koll, in Portland, OR.

Shoutout to Anthony who took this perfect picture of Burrito a few years ago! It’s my personal favorite.

Volunteer caregiver of 12 years, Lizz, also got a hammer tattoo in honor of Burrito back in 2023.

Burrito and his infamous red hammer:

We highlight how special Burrito is all the time. He is the happiest, most fun-loving, most playful chimpanzee I have ever met. He wakes up and seems to view each day as a new adventure. It’s inspiring to witness, to be quite honest. He is 42 years old, but still is a fountain of youth.

Why did I get Burrito tattooed? Burrito is so special to me. I hold him near and dear to my heart, just like a family member. This tattoo is a way to honor him now until forever!

I love you, Burrito!

I love that the block is also incorporated, Jenna!
I wonder, if the blog readers were to get one, which chimp would they honor and which picture?

That would be a tough decision, Linda, as I love them all, but I would probably pick my sweet Annie.

Wow what a compliment to Burrito. Please do share reactions of chimps if you do show it to them, especially Burrito’s.

Yes, a shout-out to Anthony for that perfect portrait of Mr. B and his purple chew toy. That is the photograph that Bubba “sent” in his endearing Valentine’s card and letter to me. Alas, as I replied in my letter to Bubs, I conceded that he has many, many other Valentines in his life, including Jenna with her portable artwork.

As for Anthony, I hope that all is well with him and that he can pay a visit to his old friend Honey B.

Beautiful artwork with beautiful inspiration. I have Burrito’s “Hey Girl” canvas print hanging in my entry way. Makes me smile everytime I see it.

Wow , I loved seeing these Tattoos. I got a tattoo on my 50th birthday but is not very original compared to these. I know Diana got one not long ago which is very pretty.
If I had to choose which chimp I would have a tattoo of I’m with Susan, it would be Annie. As much as I love Honey B and her personality I identify in many ways with sweet Annie.

Absolutely fantastic tattoo Jenna. I am wondering if any of Burrito’s MANY fans out here will now be inspired to carry him with them every day as you do. Should any of us CSNW followers do that, please let us all know. If I wasn’t so wrinkled I.might get a Buba tat myself. Huge shout out to Anthony for that photo and so many others he took that captured an essense of each subject. I miss his blog posts and am very pleased to know that the kids at CSNW still get to see him on a fairly regular basis. Huge thanks to all of you!

The artist, Jenny Koll, nailed it!! (Pun intended in honor of Anthony and Burrito’s famous red hammer.) She not only captured Burrito’s likeness, she captured his true essence. I think this image should be on a T-shirt for all of us to wear with love and support for CSNW. 🙂 Just saying….;)

Thanks for sharing your tattoo of Bubs. Speaks volumes on your commitment and dedication and, most importantly, your love for your dearest friend/s at CSNW. I bet you’ll receive a lot of comments! Have contact cards (for the sanctuary and for the artist!) ready to hand out.

Its just a beautiful tattoo. Extremely well done. It captures Burrito’s true personality. Would you ever consider making that picture into a pencil drawing an selling it? I just love the tattoo and would like a drawing of it. I’m sure it would be popular.
