Blustery Day

May 13, 2025 by Kelsi

Spring in this area is beautiful, especially with all the wildflowers in bloom, but with spring comes the often unrelenting wind. Today was one of those days where it was so windy no one wanted to go outside. However, Saturday was perfect. So perfect, that Negra marched right outside and climbed up on a platform. After a while she came down to do one of her favorite things in spring, eat grass.

This isn’t a perfect picture, but it is our photo evidence that Negra did in fact climb up this platform:

Negra, enjoying one of her favorite things on a nice day!

And my favorite photo:

Yes, in fact I did detect the arches in Negra’s brow ridge as she stood atop Her Royal Platform. These are all great photographs of Neggie the Great. If only there was aufio to have recorded her when appeared to be mid-hoot.

Dear Neggie, I would never guess that your 52nd birthday is coming up soon. I wish that I could have seen you climbing that platform ( and back down). Be careful!

A wonderful series of photos of our dear old lady, Kelsi. It’s always so good to see her enjoying herself……climbing up to get a good view, surrounded by her favourite snack , or grabbing as many lilacs as she could the other day. She’s an inspiration for all of us oldies that you should have fun and enjoy every day, no matter what number is on your birthday cake!

How wonderful to see Dear Negra outside, engaged with her favorite snack. As an elder myself, I cringe to hear people congratulate me on doing what I’ve always done, but I suppose the human condition demands it. And Negra surely deserves all the love and respect and appreciation we can give her, and all the enjoyment she can find.

We’re not being condescending with our queen! What Negra “has always done”, for years, is to plop down in the closest spot and munch the first thing he finds. so when she extends herself, by going farther, by climbing higher than usual, we celebrate her! Especially at her age!

I just adore seeing Neggie outside surrounded by all that green. And climbing (!!!) up that platform! Neggie really has the spring spirit.

Kelsey, these pictures are sheer perfection. And I cannot begin to express the joy I felt seeing Negra sitting in grass that was so tall it almost reached her shoulders. She is plunked down into the landscape like a little Negra mushroom. And the photo of Negra on top of the platform made me laugh out loud. I had to zoom in to see that shiny dome of her beautiful head as she basks in the great outdoors, surveying her queendom.

Thank you so much for giving Negra this moment of springtime. Thank you for sharing it with me. I not sure which one of us enjoyed it the most!

Negra is so sweet. She is the face of innocence, and she warms my heart. Thank you for sharing this photo of Neggie.

As soon as I saw the first picture, I almost squealed Ooh Neggie! I so wish you had a video of her little escapafe. Seeing her lips pursed in all different ways made me so happy. I just wish I coiu have heard her. Oh well, you can’t have everything.
