For me, almost everything about spring reminds me of Jody.
The lilacs are beginning to bud, and we’ll soon be into May, the month that we celebrate Jody’s birthday and her tender and motherly ways.
We are so lucky to have known her.
We are so lucky she was with us for as long as she was.
We are so lucky we got to be with her as she fully enjoyed her sanctuary life.

Sweet Jody, we miss her so! She will always be remembered and missed!
jody was an insiration for following the chimps lives (along with cy’s reading magazines). i remember sitting here in my living room, crying. the scenes of her pals trying to cope with this turn of events, was one of the most beautiful and touching thing ive ever seen.
Jody — forever in our hearts.
I miss everything about this sweet, precious girl.
thank you for this – we really miss her.
I want so much to say what joy these pictures bring, and on some levels they do. But mostly they make my heart so sad because of her loss. You are sorely missed Miss Jody with lots of love.
Thank you, Diana, for the this poignant tribute to our beloved Jody. The video of her with the pumpkin made me smile, as did the footage of the tree that she brought into the greenhouse.
I love and miss Our Lady of the Lilacs, and my memory of her is often on my mind, and heart. Let’s celebrate het birthday in a couple of weeks.
i love the photos of her with lilacs. Thank you for a lovely tribute video to this beautiful soul missed by many.
Thank you, Diana! This was moving and beautiful. ?
My introduction to CSNW was a video that my son showed me and it started with lovely chimpanzee carrying who knows how many blankets. She drops 1 or 2 as she goes through a doorway and a disembodied voice (I later learned it was JB.) said, “JoJo, a little help.” To my amazement, the chimpanzee stopped, looked behind her and with great difficulty picked up the fallen blanket without dropping any more. As she continued on her way the voice said, “Thank you, Jody.” I am still amazed by the chimps and impressed with the compassionate care that the staff of CSNW gives to these fastenating close relatives of ours.
That’s one of my favorite Jojo videos, too. Along with Foxie sharing her coconut with Jo, and Jo building a night nest and returning Jo’s good night wishes.
JB’s good night wishes
I can still recall reading that dreadful blog title on May 1, 2023, it read “Difficult News About Jody”. As I inhaled my heart expanded with a pang of fear, dread, uncertainty. I’m not really quite sure what to call it, but I remember it all too well.
Lovely Jody and her lilacs. I love the last photo. Thanks to this daily little blog post, I had the incredible opportunity to get to know Jody through each caregivers eyes. Lucky me. Lucky all of us! Thank you for giving Jody this rich, full, second chance at life.
Diana, Thank you for these memories of Jo Jo. Besides everything, I miss most seeing her interactions with her chimapnzee family and how she took such good care with everyone. And lilacs and pumpkins are all the sweeter when I remember Jody’s fondness for them. ?
Sweet Jo, I just know
that wherever you go,
You’ll have the best nest upon which to rest.
:broken_heart:
Thank you for the Jody video. My heart still aches when I think of her, the great pumpkin thief. I am so happy for the good years she had at the Sanctuary and that she was and still is loved by so many.
A beautiful and heartfelt tribute Diana. Simply put, there was only one Jody and she is and always will be unforgettable.
We are all so fortunate to hold Jody in that special “Jody spot” in our hearts. Thank you to all the CSNW family for making it possible for Jody and all the others. Jody will always be missed. I may go chew on a lilac or two.
Beautiful tribute for a beautiful soul. I wish I could have known Jody in life. Reading the old blogs and watching the old videos, I feel like I am able to know her a bit. She was and is an amazing lady.
Lilacs are my favorite flowers, and Jo Jo’s complete happiness in them made my heart swell. Thank you for sharing these beautiful memories with us. I will never again look at lilacs without thing of Jo Jo. My life, and all of our lives, were richer and better for knowing her.
Dear, dear Jody. Thank-you for this Diana…
Thank you for continuing to share sweet Jody with us.
Precious pictures.
Jody, the one and only :rainbow:

Precious Jody. Hard to believe it has been two years. let us not forget her sweet soul.
Many tears and smiles at these wonderful bittersweet memories of precious Jody. Although I kept the video of her friends saying goodbye to her, I haven’t been able to watch it again ……what a loss, witnessed by the thousands of us who still miss her every day. So special, so loved.
