Happy Valentine’s Day! Today we celebrated our forever valentines (the chimpanzees of CSNW) with a lovely party planned and prepared by caregiver Jenna! Jenna threw an amazing party, complete with chocolate pudding covered strawberries, fruit-filled ice treats, acai smoothie bowls with berries and homemade granola, chow cookies, and edible flowers in pools of gatorade. She also made mail boxes for Jamie and Cy (the resident book worms) where staff and volunteers could write notes for the chimps (or in Cy’s case, cut out pictures of people from magazines, his favorites!), and banners with photos of the chimps. Check out the video to see Burrito, Missy, Foxie, Negra, Annie, and Jamie enjoy all of their special goodies, and come back tomorrow to see Cy and friends enjoy their party!
TWO party bideos!
yay!
You throw a great party, Jenna! I want to try all of those!
I hope they weren’t in a sugar coma later! The Foxie toes said it all! Maybe she likes açaí bowls as much as she likes smoothie! And I hope The Boss left some drinks for the others! 🙂
From the looks of Foxie’s happy toes,.this party more than lived up to its anticipation by the food barks from the chimpers.
There are different types of love, and certainly I love all of the residents at this sanctuary. There is the love which two persons in a committed relationship have for each other. There is the love between friends, as seen in the devotion which Annie and Missy have for each other (and as witnessed in the bond between the constituent members of Mora B.). When Burrito initiates play with one of his friends (simian or human), there is an element of love involved.
Early this morning, I dreamed about someone I love. Jody was giving birth. As she cradled her newborn in her arms, she looked over at me. I sensed her fear.
“Don’t worry, Jody”, I told her. “You will be able to keep your baby with you forever.”
Then I woke up. Make of that vision what you will. As Thomas Merton wrote, “Love is; all else is not.”
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY !
You have the most beautiful parties, and everyone looks so happy.
Thank you for all your hard work, and for sharing.:revolving_hearts:
What a beautiful party! Delightfully decorated and personalized food offerings, decorations. I’m always blown away by how so much love exists between staff and chimps, and I so appreciate the care and everything wonderful that happens there!
Jenna! What an amazing love-filled Valentine’s Day celebration and we haven’t even seen Cy’s group yet! Your love for the chimps shines through all the creative details. Your menu sounds scrumptious and I love your mailboxes. Especially Cy’s. So funny. The original crew sure were feeling the love today! What a party!
Someday you may have to make a party cookbook. It’s interesting to see your menus through the years. You always take such care to ensure your ingredients are healthy and natural, special, and with a few substitutions, you serve beautiful yummy looking meals. And the decorations, especially the custom homemade ones, always add that extra festive feeling. I can only imagine that when the chimps see all the extra details they must feel a rush of “yippee, it’s party time”. Anywho, this is just my way of saying thank you to all the staff (past and current). My heart is full of love and joy because of all the big and little things you do for my beloved friends in Cle Elum.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!
You little beauties, salutes and hugs galore for putting on such a glorious Valentine Day Celebration. Happiness was very much unconfined and by the looks of the video clip everyone felt the love…. and so did I. Bless you all :heart:
I was so excited to see the troll I donated this September! I still need to find the rest of my troll stash in storage. So pleased they’re having fun with it!
Happy Valentines Day to all at CSNW! I love seeing them enjoy their forage and I especially love seeing Miss Foxie’s happy little toes! How long did it take the others to figure out that there was more party indoors?
Also, for those who are interested, Save the Chimps posted a short Valentines video on their blog and there’s a short clip at the beginning of Jody’s son, Clay, in his group. Clay spent many years unable to be introduced into a group due to severe trauma from his time in the lab, so it’s so wonderful to see him fitting in so well!
it is truly wonderful to see what you all do for the Chimps with such love care and attention, and especially to see how much they enjoy it!
