A heartfelt thank you to long-time friend of the chimpanzees, Paulette Wrisley, for sponsoring this special day of sanctuary in memory of her beloved niece, Saundra Boren.
My precious niece Saundra passed away a couple of weeks ago. I share this with you because she also loved our beloved chimps. And because we share things with your friends, right? And you are my dear friends. Saundra didn’t comment on the blog, but followed the chimps on Facebook. Every week or so she sent me a chimp photo and challenged me to identify them. It was a fun game that I will miss so much. We laughed together so often about the chimps’ shenanigans. She would just love me sponsoring a day of hope, love, home, to honor her.
Saundra lived a selfless, modest life with immense empathy for others – a strong, earnest, brilliant, and loving soul that left an enduring impression on Earth. All would attest to her boundless generosity and compassion for all.
She was so loving. And loved. Our sweet Sunny girl.”
Paulette, we are so very sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved niece. Thank you for sharing Saundra with us. I would imagine we would all hope to be remembered so lovingly. We’re sending you hugs from afar.

For Saundra and Paulette, how about a round of guessing? Many of you may pick up on some key identifiers, perhaps easy, perhaps not. I’ll come back at the end of the day and confirm. 🙂
1):
2):
3):
4):

OK The first one has me stumped! Saundra would be “ah! gotcha!”
Number two of course is Gordo. (that distinctive beard)
Number three is Terry. (Way too easy)
And number four I think is “Mora”?
Thank you so much for honoring Saundra with a game (here come the tears). I think I’ll remind you next year and have an annual Saundra guessing game day!
I’m with you on 2, 3 and 4, and no idea who 1 is.
I think no.1 is Foxie and Missy……
I think the first one is Luck and?
Its the OG clan, look at the background
Foxie was her favorite! For Christmas a year ago, she gave me the Foxie tote bag.
My sympathies to you Paulette and to all who knew Saundra. You wrote a lovely tribute to her here, and sponsoring a sanctuary day is a wonderful way to remember your niece.
As for the identifying game I was as bad as I thought I would be, although I did recognize Maeve at least. I love the Gordo pic, those crossed feet !
My condolences, Paulette – you wrote beautifully about Saundra :rainbow:Thank you for helping the sanctuary dwellers:green_heart:I need some more practice to confidently recognize them (except Goatee-Gordie with his distinctive zen-style sitting posture)
Paulette, please accept my sincere sympathy on the loss of your beloved niece, Saundra. How lovely that you have chosen to sponsor a day of Sanctuary in her memory. She sounds like she was a wonderful human being. I am so bad at guessing who is who – perhaps by next year’s sponsorship day and guessing game I will have improved! Sending you and your family wishes for strength and peace.
Paulette, I am so sorry for your loss. Saundra sounds like an amazing person! Full of love for the chimps! What a great game she devised! Condolences to you and your family! I know she is honored for your Tribute today.
My sweet Aunt Poliwog is the absolute best aunt ever! Saundra is very missed to say the least. She is my little sister. I’m still in shock and the pain of losing her is tremendous. thank you Aunt Paulette for your tribute it is thoughtful and loving just like you!!
Vikki, I’m so sorry that your family has lost Saundra. Please accept our condolences.
And we always intuited that our friend was the “fun aunt”. Now it’s confirmed!
I love this game°
1. The fabulous Ms Fox on the left, don’t know who on the right. But freckles are Missy, Jamie, Neggie, Burrito, so I’ll go with Missy.
2. Gordito’s adorable toes and stubby feet.
3. Terry
4. Mora.
For those guessing who was who:
1) Foxie & Missy (I figured this one was the easiest so at least I stumped you with one. 😉 ).
2) Gordo
3) Terry
4) “Mora” – Mave & Dora
We love the idea of an annual Saundra guessing game, Paulette. Thank you again! <3
Oh Paulette, our favorite Birthday Fairy, I wish there was a fairy who could take away your hurt. How fortunate you were to have Saundra in your life. You wrote so lovingly about her, I’m guessing Saundra felt equally fortunate to have you in her life.
In honor of you both, I will try to guess the photos :
1. Like Linda points out, the background makes it look like the OG group, but I’m feeling stumped. I want to say Foxie (sliver shouldered fox) and Missy (I’m guessing that’s her ear!)
2. Gordo!
3. Terry
4. Dora + Mave = Mora
Started my answers earlier and put it on hold to have dinner. Didn’t realize you posted the results, Katelyn.
Paulette, Vikki, and to the family and friends of Saundra, please accept our deepest sympathy on your loss. May precious memories of Saundra bring you peace and comfort in the days to come. What a lovely way to honor Saundra by sponsoring this day of sanctuary for the Chimps.
What fun interactions you had with Saundra, Paulette! So sorry for your loss over her recent passing. Your post warmed my heart, and I thank you for initiating what seems to be the newest enjoyment we’ll all get to share.
well, let me tell you how it all started. traditionally photo captions are below the photo. But 99% of the time on this blog, the chimp’s name is above their photo(s). When Saundra first started reading, this tripped her up. She would send me pictures that she liked, but with the wrong name. And I would always say no that’s so-and-so. we finally figured out why she got the names wrong, and she was amazed that I knew who was who
Paulette, thank you for sharing a beautiful tribute to your niece Saundra. What a loving person she must have been. I’m sure she is missed by many. Katelyn, I totally failed your quiz. I guess if I worked at CSNW all the chimps would have to wear name tags and I’m sure they are smart enough to swap around with one another and have me clueless as to who’s who.

Mora,
Hi Ken, The first was Foxie and Missy. 🙂 I figured it was the “easiest” and it’s the only one that stumped most, ha! Thanks for playing!
